ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Oil leak

I have a 90 honda, it has a oil leak above oil filter, can i some how tighten a bolt to fix it?

You need to do a little more research to pin point the leak. It could be coming from a head gasket, valve cover gasket, distributor,ect..... once pin pointed more it can be explained how to fix.

Why do you need 2 threads?

As said earlier, do a little more troubleshooting. Clean the back of the engine as best you can, then check it after driving. The only things above the oil filter are the valve cover, head gasket, and most likely, the oil pressure switch which is mounted driectly above the oil filter. Either the threads leak or it is leaking through the unit. For the low price, install a new one with some RTV on the threads.

As stated above, its most likely the oil pressure switch.

Diaphragm in the oil pressure switch fails, letting oil through (causing leak) and also causing false low pressure reading because the diaphragm no longer gets pushed as far with a given oil pressure (because there is a hole in it).

Very very unlikely to be a leak through the threads, as they are in British Standard Pipe thread, which is an interference plumbing thread. If others have had problems with it leaking through the threads (how could you tell?) then go with the RTV on the threads or teflon tape but I seriously don't think it's necessary. Just install it bare, it will seal.

Take the oil filter off, reach up and twist the boot on the sending unit hard to get it off, and pull it off, then simply unscrew (I believe 28mm socket works, you'll need maybe a 3" extension for it as I recall) and replace with a new one from Autozone for like $8.

              Done.

Idk where you (the OP) live but in Oceanside there's a mechanic that will check and replace the oil filter with an oil change, if u get an oil change u could ask the mechanic to fix it and usually they will do it for free or maybe a dollar or two. And if it is te Valve Covet Gasket those are like $25 at o'rielly, kragen, auto zone, etc and u DIY easily.
