clutch pedal problems

helping a homie with replacing his clutch. and he told me that his clutch pedal or assembly came off 1996 accord. and he says its the main reason he's not shifting or not getting enough compression. idk anything about 1996s really. would it make a difference?? just wanna know b4 i waste gas to go back to pull a part to get the part if its compatible

I wouldn't know for sure, but that 1996 accord is a different chassis/ platform than the 90-93 accord. Different engine, probably different transmission (more importantly.)

You would want to know if it's just the clutch PEDAL from the 96, or is the pedal, the master cylinder, the slave cylinder, and the clutch itself.

I would start with asking him that.

ok then. I think you are saying you have a 96 pedal on the car and the system isn't shifting properly. Not that you necessarily need to replace the pedal because it's broken.

I don't know the difference between the 92 and the 96 pedal, but i'm sure there are some. One way to tell is to call Honda or look up the part numbers on the two different pedal assemblies. If they have different part numbers, they are likely different in some way.

I would call 2 different dealership parts departments and ask one the part number for a 96 clutch, and the other for the 92 clutch. To avoid annoying them/pissing them off/feeling like they are wasting their time answering a silly question (because I'm pretty sure they are different). What they don't know won't hurt them, in other words, and will prevent them from being annoyed, therefore it will help them. (in this case).

It may be that the pushrod on the master cylinder can be adjusted in length to work with that 96 pedal. The pedal may have a different throw and distance form the master cylinder than the 92 pedal.

Personally, i'd try to pick up a 92 clutch pedal from the JY but you may be able to make it work with some fiddling. But really, he already is knowing the 96 pedal is giving him problems, just replace it with the part that's supposed to be there (the 90-93 pedal) and you should be golden.
