ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    f22a1 vacume hose question

what could be causing this and is it bad? what problems will or could this cause to a car and how can it be fixed?

    #2
Thats the pcv if its kinked bad enough to cut off breathing it will cause unwanted pressure in the engine/crank case an ya don't want that. The pcv is a vent for the engine to release pressure.Just replace the hose shouldn't be over $3.

Possibly yes its vaccum pulled from the intake.Replace the hose(any local parts store should have the size of vaccum hose you need) an go from there.

Lol yeah, it could. But I wonder how dirty the pcv valve and that tube are, those would cause a idle issue if they are packed full of oil and gunk.

What I was getting at was that most likely his IM is caked with oil and other nasty gunk, THAT would totally cause his issues. Op, pull off your intake tube, turn the tb to WOT and shine a light in there and let us know. I bet its nasty in there.

Like i said they usually are.Ive not seen one intake spotless.Oil is pulled in from the vc breather to the intake tube, and from the pcv.So their is gonna be build up no matter what.Especially the more miles/wear on the engine the more blow bye you get.Few guys have made filtered catch cans for their pcv seems to work pretty good.

Right, just making sure the op knows to check and clean the IM. I got bored one day and just ripped off my IM to clean, for no reason and it was nasty, 2 cans of brake cleaner later and it was spotless!

I've seen some really bad ones that looked like they could cut power down quite a bit.Cleaning of all ports every now an then isn't a bad idea.

Yes, seafoam can do damage if used improperly.

If your idle is still giving you problems, follow the instructions on how to set your base idle. It's in the thread at the top of this section that says 'read this first' (I'm sure you saw it when you read that thread first, right?)

As far as I know the only real way to do damage is to leave It soaking too long. I've used it many times in multiple cars, and no issues. Of you plan to use it go to youtube, search seafoam and watch the one by seafoam. Used right it can really help your engine, especially a 20 year old car like ours.
