ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    code 41

I randomly got a check engine light a couple days ago, so I read the code and it was 41, which is primary oxygen sensor heater. I searched and couldn't really find much. Does this mean that I need to replace my o2 sensor that's in my downpipe right before the cat? I just looked under there and checked the wiring and it all seems fine. I reset my ecu and the code came back instantly and it seems like its running a little rich at idle. Any help would be appreciated, I don't really want to go spending money on stuff that's not needed to fix this issue.

Yes, that code means that you have to change the o2 sensor. Codes 41 and 43 are both o2 sensor codes, though the description is fairly vague.

Be sure to get either a Denso or NGK/NTK (same company, I've seen them labeled as both) sensor. Bosch sensors do not work properly for our cars, even they say they make a model for us. Bosch is what most autoparts stores will give you, so be aware of that! www.rockauto.com has a good price on Denso.

Alright, I just bought a Denso one online because all autopart stores near me didn't have it in stock. Just out of curiosity, how bad is it to drive without an o2 sensor for a few days until it gets delivered?

Your fuel economy will be terrible, and you could foul your spark plugs, and potentially clog your catalytic converter... but if you drive it as little as possible, you may be alright.

I've had the check engine light for probably two days only driving it to work, and I don't have a catalytic converter anymore. If I disabled the o2 sensor in crome would that help at all?

You'd be running in open loop mode... basically warmup mode for the entire time. It's probably better than running in limp mode, though.

You really should install a cat. They don't rob much power, and they make your car sound and smell a LOT better. Not to mention, you won't be polluting the environment, or doing anything that encourages lawmakers to make things more difficult for us to pursue our hobbies.

My car runs off e85 lol. It pollutes the environment a little less than people who use regular gas and my car only gets loud at wot.

an o2 has the ability to fine tune the air fuel ratio. open loop mode will get you close but itll still run like shit and be potentially damaging in the long run

How much damage are we talking here? I'm only driving it to and from work, which is probably 10miles there and back, until I can get the new o2 sensor delivered to my house. I don't plan on driving with it like this for very long.
