ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

I'm a bit of an amateur welder myself, but in the past when I've tried to weld friends exhausts, I've found that the metal was too thin at the area it rusted through, and that my welds simply melted the metal.

Perhaps it's just my newness at welding that did it. Or, it could be my welder, which has a high and a low setting for heat

On a keyboard? Where did you learn to type?

My concern is either welding the hole, or getting a new downpipe. Suggestions?

Hmm. its like blowing threw a straw with hole on in. Less air because of so many places the air can come out. It would be the same thing with the holes in the exhaust.

You can leave it if you want your car to sound like a getto peace of crap. It should not cost much to fix, its free if you have a welder.

                Wow...

I had a hole in my old CB's exhaust for a long time. It didn't sound too horrible, so I didn't do anything about it. And then I wrecked it.

But anyway, if you don't mind the sound, leave it until you can replace it. If you hate the sound, then do something about it right away. A hole in your muffler isn't going to cause a noticeable amount of turbulence in flow, so it shouldn't rob your car of anything except for the stock exhaust note.

We're in the studio, stay tuned.----------(click)-------->

a bootlegged temp fix I used in the past is tin foil and an aluminum can wrapped around the hole. use two or three hose clamps to secure it to the rest of the pipe. I wouldn't do that too long maybe a week at most until you can buy a new exhaust to slap on.

I'm sorry but this is one of the most pathetic posts I've seen. Can you please make an effort to type at some level beyond that of a 3rd grader? In my experience threads get a lot more helpful replies if they're OP doesn't sound like a retard.

Wow! What a difference. The grammar between these two post went from a first grader to a 9th grader (including the run on sentence). All joking aside, I just found that to be soo mismatched that I was compelled to say either great job at learning very quickly or funny @ss joke.

That's just the thing, the car sounds normal. I think it may be because the crack has been slow to form, and I've gotten used to the sound.

Also, the crack is in the downpipe.

I also thought about this. I think the proximity to the flex pipe and hanger could pose a problem.

Are you running the stock setup? Ebay headers, which include everything that's leaking on your car, are a dime a dozen. I wonder if JB weld would patch it up.

I'd go ahead and replace my whole exhaust system if it's stock... Since I'd be replacing it anyway. Lol.
