ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Car starts randomly. Dash swap. S light Blinking

So i recently swapped my maroon dash for a black one. i used the old harness and everything hooked right up. However, lately my car will not start. I have jumped it 3 times, and it fires right up. So i bought a new battery since mine is probably 5 years old and has a lot of corrosion. Still problems starting Today i started it and the s light started blinking and 1st and 4th gear were unresponsive. Any idea of why my car wont start sometimes? i will gladly give all the information i can. im just trying not to go to the honda dealership

Well when you put the key in the ignition to "start up the car" do you hear a clicking noise? Is the fuel pump turning on? The clicking will be the starter then you should hear the fuel pump.

what happens is it cranks/clicks, but the engine never fires up. 10 minutes later it will start just fine. I think it may be an electrical issue since this started happening immediately after i swapped the dashboards.
i dont know if the fuel pump is coming on or not, my guess would be that it is since it starts right up 10 minutes later

The main relay is what he is getting at. It's a common thing to fail, and will result in a random no-start before it fails completely. Other common potential problems would be the igniter and ignition coil, as well as corroded or loose battery or ground connections. What you need to do is determine whether or not your engine is lacking spark or fuel. That will narrow things down considerably. If all you do is guess at your symptoms, we can only give you guesses for solutions.

The blinking S light is an indication of a transmission computer error code. The "read this first" thread at the top of this section will tell you how to obtain and interpret that code.

so i have a brand new battery in with no corrosion. battery light has never come on. when i replaced the dash were there any wires i needed to ground? No more s light problem, i just unplugged the green clip above the fuse box and plugged it back in and that fixed the problem.. is a main relay easy to replace? sorry i have very limited knowledge about cars but i am learning!

What green clip did you unplug? the S light was telling you something was wrong... it wasn't a problem in itself. If just unplugging and reconnecting that plug made the light go off, you didn't fix whatever problem it was telling you about. It will very likely return.

The main relay is easy enough to replace. It has been covered MANY times before on here... it would do you good to do a bit of searching, as you clearly haven't even tried to find the answer to your questions (had you read the "read this first" thread at the top of the section, you'd be halfway there.

The battery light wouldn't need to come on for a no-start. Ensure your connections are good. Just because the battery is new doesn't mean your cables aren't all covered in shit.

Determine if the problem is due to a lack of spark or fuel. Until you do that, we're wasting both our time and yours just throwing out guesses.

and i dont know if this makes a difference but my car only has 48000 original miles and has been serviced at the honda dealer for most of its life. everything has been fine with the car until i started fucking with the dashboard

                Ok, that's great.

Now check to see if the problem is spark or fuel. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS UNTIL WE KNOW WHAT IT IS THAT THE ENGINE ISN'T GETTING!

alright im pretty sure the fuel pump isnt kicking on, because i dont hear it. this all makes perfect since now!!!! sometimes i can tell that theres fuel in the lines because the engine ALMOST fires up for the first few times bet then only cranks after that. so im going the replace the main relay and hopefully that will fix the problem. Again, are there any wires in the dashboard that could have caused the main relay not to work, like an improperly grounded wire?
