ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

What is everyones take on Fuel Filters?

I am doing a main relay swap this week and was contemplating swapping out my fuel filter as well. I haven't touched the fuel filter in the 6+ years I've had my cb7 and who knows when or even if it has been replaced at all during her 21 year life.

What is everyones experience with cb7 fuel filters? Do they clog within a few years? How often do you guys swap out yours? Is it an easy job? Is it worth doing if you are having fuel pump and or fuel injection issues before an actual fuel pump overhaul?

Well i can tell you its very important to swap out. My car died on me last week for what seemed like no apparent reason. I checked everything in the car and did not find anything out of place but i decided to swap it out before buying a new fuel pump and my car started right up.

I've replaced mine twice, just out of pure whim, thinking it should be done at least one in ten years. They do clog up, but I've never had any problem with them. The one thing you do need to be aware of is that gas does leak when swaping them out so put some cardboard or something under your car.

Fuel filters don't generally just fail. It's usually a combination of water or contaminants in your gas tank. Since our cars are so old (yes, hurts me to say), the fuel tanks can get somewhat brittle inside along with the fuel lines. Eventually, these contaminants reak havok on our fuel pumps and fuel filters. But, because they are so easy and cheap to replace, why not just throw a new one in.

        that's my two sense...

I change mine when I change my spark plugs. I just consider it a part of a full tune up.

It's definitely worth replacing. I had a problem where the car would completely lose power, and often bucked while hesitating. Swapped the filter out and I've been problem free for the past 4 years .

I don't recall the part being expensive or difficult to replace, so IMO it should be replaced as preventative maintenance. I think I'll do it again within the next couple of weeks.
