ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Why would you replace the timing belt and water pump if the fan isn't working when the car is on? I have heard of people throwing parts at a car, but that seems a little extravagant.

      Thanks for all the response!
      Lets get to the answers...

is your radiator overflowing at all?
I dont think it does. The coolant level is at normal.

Ok first rule out your thermostat. 5 minutes at idle wont be enough to over heat the car if its fan related. With the car warmed up, feel the upper and lower hoses, they should be the same if not near similar. If not then its the thermostat.
Checked that, both hoses are full with coolant.

Haha thats why i ignored this

I just wrote the same thing in another thread but it is either your thermoswitch or your fan timer.. with the car running jump the harness that is for the sensor that is in the thermostat housing. Do the fans come on? If both don't come on, leave it jumped and try switching the cooling fan relay with the power window relay in the fusebox. If that doesn't make any change, it is more than likely your fan timer box located under the dash. I just had this issue and completely diagnosed the whole system with a meter. Exact same issue, it was the fan timer Unit.
Thanks, ill get to it right away. Im pretty sure the thermoswitch is fine, i need to look at that fan timer.

Coolant level is normal in the radiator or the overflow tank? My EX had the symptoms you descrine (temp gauge rises quickly at idle, drops quickly when engine is accelerated). The overflow tank looked normal, but every time I checked the radiator after cooling down, it would be low. Finally noted air bubbles from the overflow tube from the radiator into the over flow tank. Head gasket leak was pushing air into the system which pushed coolant and air into the overflow, then allowed air into the system through the leak as is cooled down instead of pulling coolant in from the overflow tank. Not saying that's necessarily your problem, just something to check.

You checked that both hoses are at the same temperature? Did you open the bleeder to see if there is air?
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!
