ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Timing Belt

So today i went to put my timing belt on and its about a quarter inch too long. I have an h23a1 non-vtec head, and an F22B non-vtec block, from what i read the Deck Hieght is the same on both and also all the pullies and belt tensioners are the same diameter, and its the same belt number as the one from my old H23 block, am i missing something, any help would be appreciated.

take the belt back to the place of purchase and explain . they might be able to measure you one and exchange yours. good luck . is the tensioner pulley fully extended ?

A man that keeps looking back can't see whats in front of him.

Yeah the tensioner is fully extended i swapped pullies and gears swapped everything i could think of from the h23 block and its still too loose. the only other thing i could think of is i routed to belt wrong, i have it around both cams down to the waterpump over the tensioner down to the crank pulley

Perhaps the belt you need would be the one for the F22B. Most people use a GSR belt (though I've heard it's tight)

I may be completely wrong, as this is a pretty unique situation... but it's worth a try at least.

you were not wrong at all sir, it is a tight tight fit and 4 dollars more than the H23a belt but it fits perfect

                              FYI...

I performed complete maintenance and swap on a complete JDM F20A DOHC engine. This has the same PT2 DOHC head as JDM F22B DOHC engine, shares same water pump and timing belt configuration.

I have plenty of experience with Honda 4-cylinder timing belt/water pump maintenance and have personally experimented with all USDM timing belt options (H23ax, GSR, 88 Dodge Caravan 2.5L, F22ax) and tried the H23 and F22ax water pump in combination with all belts, even with F22ax timing gear in combination. None worked properly with appropriate length, fitment and tension. I had to purchase the JDM F20A/F22B DOHC OEM timing belt and water pump.

I remember the JDM F20A/F22B DOHC water pump is basically an USDM F22ax water pump body with H23 water pump gear on it.

One of the belts could fit with some force, but was too tight and timing belt components were not properly synchronized. I would not operate that engine in that condition, asking for trouble.

Maybe things are different for you because you have a hybrid engine your dealing with, just sharing.
