Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Overheating issues. Radiator fans?

    Overheating issues. Radiator fans?

    I recently bought a 93 lx sedan from a friend who thought it needed a head gasket and clutch. After looking at it I realized the clutch pedal just needed to be bled and the cooling fan fuse was blown, it showed no signs of a bad hg.

    After fixing everything I saw wrong the car moves but the fan still wont come on. I changed the fuse and checked the relay with the power window one and its all good. I jumped the radiator fan and it works, but not the condensor fan.

    When I turn on the ac neither fan spins even with a push or jumping the thermoswitch. When driving they dont come on either and it causes my car to overheat in about 30 mins. Could this be due to a bad thermostat or is it most likely a wiring issue? Thanks

    Sounds like the problem I'm having I just bought a 93 also and the guy before me had the fans direct to the right head light. Sounds like the thermostat is bad you should change that first as its the cheapest thing to fix first. Water pump or head gasket failure would overheat the car quick.

      check the cooling fan fuse and relay under the hood, the thermostat doesnt exactly control the fan per se, all it does is blocks coolant from running out if the engine until it reaches a certain temp. And when it gets cool again it shuts and traps the coolant in the engine until its ready to be released again.

        The fuse and relay check out fine. Actually I noticed a ground that was unattached behind the passenger side headlight. It seems to come from the firewall could this be causing problems?

          It couldn't hurt to try that.

            Even if that ground isn't your culprit, it could certainly bring on gremlins later in life if you don't hook it back up.

              Well, I'm not sure if I would hook that wire up or not. When I see a loose wire on my cars, I just look at them and wonder if I should hook them back up.

              If I'm having electrical issues, I'm even more undecided as to what to do.

                my cooling fan fuse would blow any time i turned on the ac, and when i jumped it it worked just fine for about 30 sec then the wires got so hot they started smoking! i replaced the cooling fan motor with one from a junk yard and that solved my prob. hope this helps!

                  If the fan turns on connecting it directly and its not the fuses or relays its the coolant temp switch that goes on the upper hose housing I had the same issue last week on my 91 ex. it should be around 15-20$ for it

                    There are two relays tucked up against the driver side fender that control those fans check to see if they're operating correctly

                      Without a doubt, it is your fan timer. It's a little black box that is right above the drivers sidekickpanel fusebox and it is bolted in. You need to get in the drivers side footwell and look straight up for a black box, it shares a bolt with the main relay as well, so its hard to miss. This box is responsible for receiving and sending fan signals from the sensors to the relay. Good luck!
