ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    exhaust question

    i have a 1992 honda accord ex-r
    it came stock with headers

im just wondering cause i had to take my exhaust out and the muffler broke off, also the flex pipe was bad ... do i NEED the flex pipe cause i was told if it has a flex pipe its there for a reason the flex pipe is only like a foot maybe long
    thanks for any help

flex pipes are always a good idea. especially with cars that you play with(beat on) and lowered cars. reason is is because when you give the car some heavy throttle the engine moves backwards and forwards a little bit. if theres no flex pipe then it makes it harder for the exhaust to move freely, you could end up with broken exhaust hangers, cracked primary welds on the header and broken spring bolts. especially if you are lower to the ground and have regular occuring exhaust scrapeage. this is just my profesional opinion. hope this helps.

^^^ agreed. My 92 is lowered, and the flex pipe helps take some stress off the flang that connects the header to the head, especially when grinding the exhaust on the pavement. Sounds like your gonna have to weld another one in or find another down pipe.

        header, one, singular, individual.

As far as needing the flex pipe... When I swapped out the motor in my old Corolla, the flex pipe got broken and I welded in a piece of straight pipe so I could be at work 200 miles away the next day. That exhaust system was constantly breaking apart and causing me problems.
The Spyder Automotive exhaust on my cb7 doesn't have a flex section, and I haven't had any issues at all with it in four years.

I was wondering the same thing as I am doing a full exhaust system. I'm working from the muffler back. So far I've purchased the cat back and am looking for options on the header to cat portion.

I hear you. Reading it back I guess I could have done a better job wording that... I was trying to emphasize that I was looking for a decent sound before factoring in any of the other details. That and the axle back portion was totally rusted out. Hence the "starting with the muffler". Needless to say my pacesette kit came in tonight and I will be installing tomorrow. I am going to try and document the whole install as well as introduce my ride. Please don't flame on the pacesetter. I wasn't about to drop $500 on a magnaflow kit.

I'm not flaming, but for another $200, the Magnaflow would have been worth it. The Pacesetter is going to sound like ass IMO and will attract much attention from your local law enforcement. Every one I've heard has been blatty as hell.

a magnaflow resonator will calm down the raspy sound .

Personally I prefer the sound of Skunk2's universal mega power muffler with muffler shop piping, yes I know mandrel is better, but cost wise you get it all for about $300 minus the resonator.
