ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

What causes the S light to blink in 91 lx?

My Green S light(the one that turns on when you turn sport mode on) blinks on and off every once in a while. What is the cause of this?

Its pretty much a " check engine light " but for the transmission

You need to pull the code from it the same way you pull a check engine light

To do this locate the blue male connector above/around the passenger side plastic kick plate

Jump the connector with a paper clip

It will give you long blinks and short blinks

    long blinks = 10
    short blinks = 1

add them together and tell us the code

    good luck

Explain what you are doing to pull them to ensure you aren't doing anything wrong.

The thread at the top of this section that says "read this first" contains the instructions necessary to pull the code, as well as a list of what all the codes mean.

I took a medium large plain silver paper clip out of my right pocket of my pants. Bent it three times so that it resembled a thin silver horse shoe. Plugged it into the blue service connector put the key into the ignition turned it to the 2nd, on not started position, and waited to observe the codes from either the green S light or the orange engine light but I got neither. No codes.

Is this a sign of a bad TCM?

It may be. The only way to find out for sure is to swap it out for a known good one and see if anything changes.

Wow that has to be one of the best descriptions i've read on here

Im wondering why its not working though, you should at least get a code from the CEL or the S light, i find it hard to belive both units are having trouble.

If the S light is flashing, it has nothing to do with the ECU... the CEL wouldn't flash.

If the S light is flashing and there is no code being thrown when the service connector is jumped, then the only thing I can think of is a bad TCU.

Doesn't the CEL come on when you do this test even if it doesn't have a CEL? I thought it came on for like a second then turns off and stays off if no codes are stored

Jumping that connector should make both the S light and ECU light give their codes provided they have any

If nothing is happening that makes me think maybe theres a wiring issue with the diagnostic connector?

Where is the TCM? I really need a shop manual for this car. I just haven't had time to get one yet. I was reading about TCMs getting wet or shorting out. Is this common? Do I sound like a kid, asking all these questions? But why? Because. But why ? Because

I have a lot to learn about this car. It's pretty new to me, three days so far.

both ECU and TCU are located underneth the passengers feet, pull back the carpet and you will see a metal plate covering them up. The tcu's generally die from capacitors degrading over time and bursting

And no you don't sound like a kid because you actually type well so i can understand what you're saying without rereading it 4 times.

Asking questions is how you learn. It's definitely encouraged here! As long as your questions are legitimate, and not just due to laziness (we can tell...) then nobody will ever think less of you.

There are two types of beginners on this forum. People who know nothing and want to learn, and people who know nothing and want everyone else to do their thinking for them. As long as you keep yourself in the first group, you will always find knowledgeable people on here that are more than willing to help you.

Leaking capacitors. Reminds me of my old Galant vr4 ecu problems. Good times diagnosing that before I was online, I took it to dealers and threw parts at it. FAIL!
