ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Overheating randomly.

Sup guys, my car has been driving fine so far, only problem is sometimes (probably twice a day) the temperature needle starts going up to about 3/4 (hasn't red-lined as of yet) while I'm at a stop light for a while. Once I accelerate and drive, it goes back to normal. My fans do turn on. I replaced my thermostat about 2 months ago. However, I do know that my water pump is leaking (leaks a little sometimes after I turn it off). The amount of coolant in the radiator and reservoir is good. Could the water pump be the source of the problem?

Maybe just replace the water pump and go from there

as stated above the water pump is a pump . so if it has any release of pressure it will take a few min.s to rebuild pressure. this may very well be your problem , although bearing failure is the most common problem in all pumps in general.
Also do you have any leaks in the radiator ?

        Some things to check for.

How are your hoses, I see you said the overflow tank and radiator hull is filled. How often do you add to it? When you're underneath the car check to make sure your IM is not leaking as well.

Head gasket. Have you had it apart yet since owning it?

Water pump, it could be bad- but check tension on the belt first.

Are there obstructions in front of your fins? Do you have an A/C condenser?

        How is the thermostat?

In terms of the water pump, you want to ensure where the leak is located; albeit bad seal, check the weep hole etc.

If you do happen to remove the head, one thing I should mention is to check the condition of the water jacket. Double check to make sure there is no calcium-like buildup inhibiting smooth coolant flow.

If you have any issues driving the car reliably daily after the initial onceover procedure feel free to PM me or other knowledgeable members here.

        life is good.
