ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    sleeves

ok,been a while since i posted but i got a situation and iys not jersey shore. I been working on my parts for my h23. i have been told that i should get oversized pistons. i currently have mahle -7 dish piston but i am getting the block sleeved and unsure on what i should do. the pistons i have now dont even have 5 miles on them due to the car sitting. since they have no wear on them what do yall think of the ovesrized pistons? it is a turbo car aswell

It all depends on what you want from this engine. Telling you that you should or should not get oversized pistons is like saying that you should eat chicken for dinner, not fish.

If you don't know enough to be able to pick the parts that are best for your build, you should stop spending money right now and start doing some studying. Going into a build based on limited knowledge and "what people say" is the fastest way to have an extremely expensive and unreliable engine!
The other option is to find a professional that builds Honda engines. Give your engine to them. Write a nice fat check. Have the engine built.

yes, you are right. actually I hve been building(buying parts) for this car for the last year. the remaining parts will come from bisi. things is that I'm still learning but wasn't too sure on what I should do with my other pistons. the person I'm getting my info from is a f22 specialists(not bisi) but he is very reputable here in MS and happens to have a site dedicated to making parts for cb7s.i had planned on sleeving the block anyway but I had planned on mothing special say going back with stock 87mm sleeves and putting it back together.yes u right about making a expensive engine but I'd rather have a reliable one. The reason he pointed me into this directions was because of the cylinder walls are scratched.

Thing is with new sleeves you can pretty much go from 85mm - 90mm pistons. Now all the world is your oyster. Picking one depends on what you want.

Scratched FRM sleeves suck. Your F22 guru isn't wrong in pointing you in the re-sleeve direction, however, you could probably get another H23 block cheaper if you are happy with your current setup.

Do you know what it was that cuased the scratches in the cylinder walls?

Mahle is well known for making pistons that are compatible with our FRM sleeved blocks. That being said, if you sleeve your block (probably iron sleeves) I don't know that those pistons will still be compatible. FRM cylinders are finished to a shine while aftermarket sleeves are honed with a crosshatch for proper seating of the piston rings. With aftermarket sleeves you have a much larger choice of pistons though.

really not sure on what caused the scratches of the cylinder walls. I would think it would have something to do when i first started the project. The guy i kinda entrusted in putting my car together(a friend) drove the car with out a boost gauge on a hondata supercharger map without my knowledge. From there the headgasket blew but then it had stock pistons and rods in it. Now a lil over a year later im just gone do it right not shortcuts. Thing is that i dont know enough on the situation to just make a final verdict but im still reading. i decided to go with 90mm piston but before i buy imma research the cons on that big of pistons. good thing i know how the head should come out. I miss my f22 so i will look into putting those mahle pistons i have into a f22 and boosting that aswell.Do sleeving a motor take away from factory reliablity?

if it's done right, it should be better. Do your research and don't just let anyone sleeve it for you. Once it's sleeved, it gets bored out and honed to the specs required by your pistons. Decide on the pistons first, then get sleeves that can be machined to their specs.

yes thats what i was just looking into. i talked to the guy from mahle when i first bought my first set. im leaning towards golden eagle sleeves so ill follow up with them on what piston best mate to their sleeves. the guy who is advising/helping me has his connections and preferences on things but at the end of the day ill be paying for everything and driving the car. the forum is the most helpful.

Yes, and we're talking about an H23 here. Which is also sleeved, with FRM sleeves.
                    Your point is?

You weren't really talking to anybody, since nobody was talking about what you were talking about... "bro". Do you care to share your opinion on turtles as well? I mean... since we're on unrelated topics.

well decided to go with darton sleeves and now deciding upon pistons. imma hit bisi up and see what would he match with his 3.6 cams. slowly but surely. oh yea ordering a turbonetics turbo got rid of ebay turbo. with the sleeving process do yall think i should go that far with the cams if i wanna be a dd. i wanna drive it to import alliance if it ready by then.

I don't see a 3.6 cam option for the H23 on Bisi's site. You must be looking for some crazy power going with cams like that! Honestly, I wouldn't get a full race cam for a DD. You'll hate it. At least I know I would! However, I don't think I would ever want more than 300whp from a FWD street car either... that's just too much power to put down to the ground!

lol, i been debating on this but my goal was 500 hp but to be honest im probably in to deep with all the stuff i have now. i might go with the 2.3 and call it day.i dont wanna have to go into the motor after im done unless i just have to and i especially dont wanna trailor it around to the track and scene here. i just wanna do it all right but you do got a valuable point that i am uncertain about. i was told that i was well over 300 hp the 1st time with the parts i bought. then that was not with the aftermarket piston and rod. to be honest those are brand new just been sitting in the block for a year. havent even had the head on the car to crank so they have no miles on them at all.
