ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    F22a6 leaking oil

Hello everyone, i am new to this site and i had a question or two to ask. i have a 90 accord lx with a f22a6 in it. yes this motor was swapped into this car. ill tell yall a little about the car. it is a strong, fun little car. Doesnt tick or knock, but does leak oil to where it concerns me. when i first got the car at the begining of the year, I could tell that the motor was not took care of well. It had oil in spark plug cylinders and leaking oil fairly good off the head. so first thing i did was replaced valve cover gasket, spark plugs and rings for it. I also changed the oil. the car sat for about a month as i did major body work to it. i did not buy the car to make it fast more than less to have a solid DD that did well on gas. i finally got the car looking the way i wanted it to and put it on the road. First impressions of car were excellent. i have a job where i have to use my car a lot everyday and i am a firm believer in checking the oil very reguarly. I noticed after about 500 miles on new oil change that the motor had not lost any oil or not enough for me to notice. but after checking it again at about 1000 miles after oil change, it looks as it has lost a significant amount of oil. so i have not drove the car due to i do not want to hurt the motor. Now on to my questions.

First off, i have noticed it is leaking off the bottom end but as we all know there are several gaskets that may leak oil. My question to yall is how hard is it to replace the gaskets and where are the most common places that this motor leaks oil from? i know enough about motors to get through most things but i just want to hear other peoples stories or advice. A couple of people i know said just keep oil in it and go but i do not see the use in wasting money in oil when i can replace the gaskets to prevent the leaks. So if anyone could help me on this problem i would muchly appreciate it.

Now to my second question. if i can get the oil leak problem fixed, what are some extras that i could do to help the life of my car. it is a great car, other than the leak. it was getting about 27 mpg and i had thought about getting headers and a brand new exhaust for the car to help it breath. but like i said i am new to the honda world and just looking for advice. So if anyone knows of anyways to help out a f22a6 please feel free to drop your two cents because i am all ears.

Well to all those who read my thread i greatly appreciate it. As i have posted on other threads and was bashed due to my noobie knowledge of hondas. so thank you for reading.

The only hellish gasket i ever changed was on the oil pump. The other gasket are fairly easy. Check your oil pan gasket that may be it. and i think everyone here understands the noobness of this BUT, everyone starts out as a noob.....that's life. Welcome to the site.

a6's are equipped with an oil cooler and those have a o ring that leaks from time to time.

check the oil pressure sender which is on the back of the motor

oil pan gasket usually takes about an hour but tighten the bolts to around 6 ft-lbs because anything more usually squeezes the gasket out.

a lot of people neglect transmission fluid and fuel filters. change coolant out every 2 years, f22's sometimes blow headgaskets.

My Accord have oil leaks too, I only have the car for a few weeks and itīs not my daily car, but it looks like is leaking from the oil pan gasket, and from the gasket between the engine and the transmission (AT).
