Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

      yea you should. but it works just as fine with r12 seals. my shits r12 seals and it worked perfect. the only time they probably need to be replaced is cuz they are old and leak. then you can rebuild the entire compressor or buy a new one. lol

          freeze12 is the same.I have never herd of compressor seals going bad because of r134a being used.But if you say so.My car has had the r134a conversion (done my way)for 2 summers in az and I drive it alot during the day when it get up to 120*f outside and it has kept me cool so far.Are you saying its going to kill my compressor?

            As long as you change the oil it should last. Thats what I have ben told and I have never had one go bad but you say otherwise

              it wont kill the compressor. you need to put PAG oil in it though when you retrofit.

                freeze12 is not the same, if it was it would be called r12. Basically its recycled freon from recovery tanks that has been filterd and mixed with r22 and hella other stuff. Hook up a freon analyzer to it and you will see that it is no where pure r12. IF you put that in your system and its all good then thats great. But if you ever want to recharge a system or evacuate it with a machine from another company, they wont touch it cause it will f-up their machine

                accordztech-I know that but it it not necessary to get your a/c blowing cold and working properly.When you vac the system it gets the moisture out. The drier, also known as the receiver-drier, is sort of the safety catch for your system. The compressor is only supposed to compress the gas form of your refrigerant. However, there's always a chance that some liquid could make it back that far. The drier catches this liquid before it can damage your compressor.Your drier also has "dessicant" (similar to that packet of "DO NOT EAT" that comes with electronics)To get any moisture let in by someone carelessly working on the system. .
                Dude why go all the trouble to convert it and NOT change the reciever drier? You had it exposed to the atmosphere and in that time can dimminish that dessicant especially if its really old.
                What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

                You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

                    Money.Why spend the extra money if you can get the a/c working fine without spending it.Why not put that money somewhere else in your car where it really counts!

                      134a oil = PAG oil

                          well.

                          well according to you I did everything right but change the drier.I know Its a good idea but I am kinda lazy and I didnt want to risk causing a leak or geting anything in the lines because my dryer was super dirty and it and the lines where covered in grease.All I have to say is I have no regrets because my air works good.Oh and dont they say to change your expansion valve when you switch over?

                            Expansion valve nahh. If you feel the input high smaller hose and it is hot and then the other side low pressure isn't colder then its clogged. That's the time to change it

                              i use r134 on mine and i didnt change anything. when i bought the car like 4 years ago, i just got some r134, some oil, some leak sealer, charged it, and ive used it for 4 years now no problem. i would just use r134, but let the r12 or whatever out first. do it the lazy and cheap way for this like me
