ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Delta 272 and Tune Help

First off yes with all of this down the road I know H22a will be a better option if I wanted straight performance. But if I wanted performance I would of bought a EG and swapped something into that with mass boost.

I've been looking at a couple threads lately about this and I'm looking at getting a large cam, Delta 272 mostly. I know the Bisimoto ones may be better for the car but I'm honestly looking for the lopey idle. (Laugh all you want ) I know it's dumb but still. I love lopey idle.

    1) The biggest problem, my car is auto what problems would I run into with this and the 272?
    2) I would be getting a P06 or something similar with a proper tune for this cam, anything that I should know before going to a shop for getting a tune?
    3) I've heard the 272 focuses on high-end power, so my question is will I lose a lot of low end torque?
    4) Valvespring and other components, should I consider replacing these? I have about 175,000 km which is about 108,000 miles I believe.
    5) Fuel mileage, how much drop would I be looking at approxmaitly? I know a lot this depends on the tune.
    6) Cam gear, will the stock cam gear restrict tuning a lot? I know the cam gear is for adjusting timing only.
    7) Delta 272, does it affect a large effect on emmissions? Like state/provincial emissions.

nothing major that would really concern you..just be sure your p06 is for an auto, unless you plan on going manual.

    2) I would be getting a P06 or something similar with a proper tune for this cam, anything that I should know before going to a shop for getting a tune?

make sure you tell them all the mods you have or will have.

    3) I've heard the 272 focuses on high-end power, so my question is will I lose a lot of low end torque?

you wont lose a lot of low end, especially if you get your ecu tuned properly.

    4) Valvespring and other components, should I consider replacing these? I have about 175,000 km which is about 108,000 miles I believe.

with a 262 you dont need to replace anything..with a 272 upgrading your valvesprings and retainers wouldnt be a bad idea..it is recommended to upgrade.

    5) Fuel mileage, how much drop would I be looking at approxmaitly? I know a lot this depends on the tune.

it will definately depend on the tune, but since the cam is pretty agressive, you will lose some gas..not alot..also depends how you drive

    6) Cam gear, will the stock cam gear restrict tuning a lot? I know the cam gear is for adjusting timing only.

the gear is used to adjust timing and can help with the tuning process if the tuner knows how to tune timing..this can also affect gas..if you advance timing youre gona use up more gas, but get more hp in the process..if you retard youre not gona waste as much but you lose hp

    7) Delta 272, does it affect a large effect on emmissions? Like state/provincial emissions.

it will deff affect emissions, by how much i am unsure..i dont have one yet, but i am looking into getting one in the future..

    good luck

Tuning for an auto is more complicated. Doable, but not as easy. Keep that in mind.

The Delta 260 has always been regarded as the better cam for an automatic. Many people have used it with a stock ECU and had no real issues.

        1) How hard is it to convert a manual ECU to auto ECU or vice versa? I have seen some threads on HT showing you have to reverse some transistors on the ECU board.

        2) Upgrading the valve springs and retainers, is this just for reliability reasons for there any performance increase or more tune-ability options with aftermarket ones?

Thanks guys, I'm still looking at the 272 rather than a smaller cam. Again mostly for the rumble of death.

If you can identify components on a circuit board, desolder, and solder effectively... then it's not hard. If you can't do those things... it's pretty hard.

The valvesprings are necessary so you don't experience valve float. The stock springs, especially the old stock ones, aren't stiff enough for a cam with increased lift and duration... which could result in a valve meeting a piston. Fun stuff.

The 272 may have a powerband that goes higher than the shift points... so you'll be shifting in the middle of the powerband. You might want to look into using a different TCU, or find someone that can reprogram yours.

Yeah I'm computer technician so I can solder fine.
The springs and retainers, what types/brands are there out for the F22A?
(If there is Bisimoto, other than Bisimoto please)

Oh I see, the TCU is that only on automatic models or...?

Yes, that is for Automatics. Is your car even Automatic or are you just running a auto ECU on your manual?
