ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    windows

I've been searching around but didn't find anything related to my problem.(I may have missed something so forgive me.)
After I turn my car off and take the key out, I can still open and close my power window. Is this a luxury for our cars or is it bad that it is happening? I know that it's not using power but I'm still concerned.
    thanks in advance!

You can take the keys out and still operate the power windows for 20-30 seconds.
But if you open the door, the power gets cut to the windows.

If yours is doing more than that, you have an issue... or an awesome CB. Depends on how you look at it.

I guess I have an awesome CB then...lol. I can have the key out and open the door and it still works! The only reason I know this is because i have to reach out my window to open the door because i haven't replaced the latch on the inside.
I don't think it's draining enough power to do anything but I just don't want to have some major shorts somewhere.

All CBs with power windows do this...

With the key out you get 10 min of window time as long as a door doesn't open. RTFM.

I was trying to hook the radio to it like most newer GMs, but I'm too lazy.

10 mins? I thought it wasn't more than a half minute. Shows how much I RTFM.

I never knew this...Don't think my car does it though because I shut the car off all the time without realizing my passenger wasn't done rolling their window up. I've even considered installing a timer relay to allow them to operate for a short period of time after turning the car off.

Is this maybe an EX only option? I have an LX.

I have an LX too and I'm thinking that there is a short somewhere but I wouldn't even know where to begin looking for it.

I don't know if helps but on European models you can't operate with windows after you turn off the car.
So mybe there is difference with model, I mean DX, LX, EX...

I was thinking door switch. OP, do your lights come on when you open the door? Does the car chime if you leave your keys in and open the door with the car off?

No lights or chimes. Didn't think about the switch itself.
It's the only window that goes down, all the other window motors make noise but no movement. I guess it is a perk for now, I just thought it was odd because my civic denies me power when the key is off!

It could be your dash clock...There is more to the clock than just showing the time. It is a switch that allows your gauges and internal lights to work, it also provides power for the windows. If the clock is missing the gauges, windows, and other accessories won't work. When the clock receives power when the key is turned it activates a switch in the clock that starts the accessories! Odd engineering huh?

You can even ad an external button to the plug in the clock that will active the switch and have the accessories work no matter if the key is in it or not.

Have you tried opening the door then shutting it, then re opening it and see if the windows still roll down? Some cars won't cut the power till the door is shut again.
