ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Heat from Stainless Steel Header

Will the heat from a regular stainless steel header damage nearby components such as the A/C, P/S, etc over time if not coated or wrapped?
    Current:
    2007 Acura TL Type-S 6MT KBP

    Past:
    1992 Honda Accord EX-R Sedan - RIP
    1991 Honda Accord EX-R Wagon - RIP 10/14/2010

i doubt it. it doesn't really 'radiate' heat, unless there's a leak.

There is heat but not enough to damage your AC/PS lines.
      You should be fine.

Should be fine unless your tracking and beating the piss out of your car haha.

You can get some of the wrap stuff for your header for pretty cheap.

In time, heat will cause rubber and plastic parts to become brittle. It won't happen very quickly, though... and the heat from the stock manifold (even with the heat shield in place) has already done plenty of damage over the last 20 years anyway. I'm sure.

If you're concerned, get ceramic coating, wrap, or fabricate a heat shield.

Of course it would happen over time, but yeah Deev your right it's 20 year old car so it's probably going to have weak lines anyways. But I was researching wrapping vs coating.

Many shops and people I've spoken to say wrapping is great for racing and keeps the heat in the header thus faster gas exhaust speed (means the exhaust gas goes out faster because it's hotter). But all the extra heat in the header can crack welds and bolts. They send many people have needed to replace there headers after wrapping them. Coating on the other has seems the best way, but it's expensive. But yet again other case of you get what you pay for. Heat shield is a good idea but, I want to see some sexy shit.

              1) What you guys think on wrapping vs coating?
              2) Will coating reinforce mediocre welds? (Will coating reinforce the header if it's a lower quality less that $500 or so to prevent it from cracking for a long time? Or would it still have the same effect in the header is built mediocre.)
