ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    f22a1 head swap

I am new to the tuner world and i am wanting to know if i can easily swap the cylinder head on my 93 accord. the head gasket has a leak and i need to change the timing belt and balance shaft belt. while i have this engine torn down i was wondering if i could just loose the f22a1 head and put a different one on that will bump up the power? And if this is possible what other mods will be needed (ecu, ect.)

you can try a jdm f22b, it's a dohc but you're going to need an ecu that'll support the setup. chipped ecu would be the cheapest and most cost effective way to go.

you can also put a cam in it and get a performance valve job done since the head needs to come off anyways. make sure you have it surfaced as well.

Please search around, there's existing information all over the forum.

There are a few options. I would recommend, that if your car is A1, to replace with an A1 head if anything. The troubles you'd go through and little monies spent here and there just to yield an added 5whp is not worth a head swap to a Bx or A6, etc. If all your car needs is an HG, I would just replace that and belts after proper prep and TDC. But again, I have a practical approach. If you want "added" power, and already have bolt-ons, you could switch to H23 IM and plenum, as well as source a Bisi shielding gasket. Any different head, and you'll have to use the correct corresponding ECU.

      life is good.

Besides different cam, head. And windage tray/pickup/cooler, block. etc etc but yes. Same ideas, imo much improved in the A6 vs A1

          life is good.

The HEAD is the same. Those parts that differ are all bolted to the head.

Headswaps on the F22A are not a good idea. You are better off building the F22A head, or swapping in a full engine of a different type.

No they are not the a6 head has a more aggressive cam and stiffer valve springs for the more aggressive cam then the a1 and a4.

The HEAD is the same. The actual head casting is identical between all the F22A engines (and I believe all the F20A and F18A engines as well...) The parts attached to it are different, yes.
