ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    safc boosting question???

what are the settings that you would set the safc to??? i'm going with the dsm turbo set up and i want to be able to drive it to the shop for it to get it tuned...

I would NOT suggest using an SAFC for tuning a turbo setup. Even tuned by a pro, such a setup offers very little engine management control, and you are very likely to damage your engine very quickly. Your best bet would be to get a P06 ECU, chip it, and have that tuned. It's also very easy to find an F22A basemap to get you to the shop. The P06 can be had for $20-$50, and a chipping kit is about $25. If you're taking it to a shop, they should have everything else you need for tuning.

Honestly, if you're set on using the SAFC, I suggest having the car towed to the shop, rather than risking the drive.
That, or disconnect a charge pipe and drive it with no boost at all... it'll sound like crap, but you'll be less likely to damage your engine.

DO not use a SAFC for a n/a to turbo build.
      very limited adjustment window
      no control whatsoever over timing
safc works poorly with a map based system.

In short, the SAFC is mickey mouse and a full standalone (chipped p06) is not very much more money.

it's a very oldschool method, used in the days when options were very limited. Today, there are many more options, and those options are getting cheaper and cheaper.

i dont know much about the SAFC thing but from what i read up on going turbo a chipped and tuned ecu is much more reliable option...

I am betting just driving to the shop is a little bs and wil end up driving around town/ messing around with it...

I would just leave everything connected... just keep it out of boost completely ...

I'm sure he's running a 14b or t25... keeping those out of boost would require a very gentle touch! (especially the t25... that's just tiny.)

or just unhook the wastegate actuator from the flapper.

Most people aren't happy with a blown motor... so yeah, he'll definitely be more happy if he does it the right way!
