ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

You've probably seen it or you wouldn't have been looking for an a4 header ut if not then you might want to start here if you plan on staying with oem parts.

I've had it bookmarked for quite awhile now. But thanks for letting me know about it. On the subject do you know of any threads where someone modified the runners on an A6 to be controlled by just a solenoid and not the (lack of) vacuum? I was thinking of swapping to A6 runners and wiring them to a button or switch that i can use to open or close them no matter if i have a vaccum or not.

The best way to see if you're getting an A4 header is to check the stamp located next to it... if it says F22A4, then chances are that's what you're getting.

The A6 piece will flow just about as well. I hope you got the lower part, too... not just the upper half. If that's all you got, then you pretty much just wasted $50.
Hell, I would never pay $50 for that in the first place! You can get a brand new ebay cheapie header for $50 shipped these days, and they perform just about as well. The ONLY reason we tell people not to bother with them is that they aren't a significant upgrade over the A4/A6 design... and those A4/A6 pieces should be had for VERY cheap. I personally wouldn't pay more than $20 for a 20 year old stock header/manifold.

Gotcha, I found the headers in an EX that no longer had the block or head in it so checking the stamp on the block was out. haha... I got the down pipe too. Went and ordered some new gaskets all around cause I figured I'd just go on and replace them while I'm at it. I'd be doing that no matter what header.

But yea so $50 was a little high? I wasnt too sure about the price. I mean the junkyard had a list on the wall of how much stuff cost and then they tried to add a "core charge" but i managed to talk them out of it. I mean who'd ever think a junkyard would charge you for a core deposit? hahaha... it'll be the last time i'm going there.

Header. Not Headers. Sorry, that is a major pet peeve.

And the A6 manifold should flow as well as the A4.

oops! sorry. I had been told by a friend that each pipe was considered a header pipe and headers were a set of pipes. but I had wondered about that. Thanks though, I didnt know.

Each pipe is a header pipe. But with it all being one piece it's a header. On a v6 where you have each header going to 3 cylinders a piece then you have headers. And so on and so forth with a v8 or whatever. It's retarded and a normal thing that people say but it bothers some people lol.

Well... just look around thru all the ebay sellers.. some will have the "make a offer" option click on it and you have yourself a brand new ebay stainless steel header for around $50-60 shipped. They are cheaply made but make power and flow as good as the old OEM piece.. if not a lil bit better. If you keep you car clean and take good care of everything under the hood the ebay header will last pretty long time... sure the shiny finish will be gone but it will not rust out.

But you want to keep all OEM so for you.

I got my eBay header for $63 shipped . For $13 more , it's well worth it . Had a nice shiny look to it , make the engine bay look a lot cleaner . It will change colors and flake after a while but should never look like the cast iron header / manifolds that came stock on the CBs . Header wrap is another option .

Yeah, no problem. Technically, that definition could be correct, but this is one of the major things that gets Honda owners (always seemingly refered to as "ricers") made fun of.

I dont see why people say everyone who tunes a 4-banger is a ricer... to me a ricer is one of the guys with a huge tach, a gutted muffler and an aluminum wing on the back, pretty much all show no go.

Hmm i'm going to have to check out ebay, I'm looking at the down pipe and I think it's going to cost more to get the flex pipe replaced than it would be to get an ebay header...

owequitit wasn't trying to define "ricer". He was merely stating that such ignorant statements as saying "headers" for an inline four is something that people that deal with V8s (which DO have "headers") generally laugh at us for.
