ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    first f22a6 rebuild!

Hi everybody... im new here to the site, and just recently picked up my first cb7(93ex). Its a very clean stock ride aside from the blaring aftermarket muffler. The engine is at 212k but still feels very powerful. Theres a funny sound comming from under the valve cover on the tb side. But basically I was thinking of ordering a master rebuild kit for 750 and attempting the rebuild. Any help would be MORE than greatly appreciated. Im just looking for somewhere to start. Thanx everyone.

You probably need a valve adjustment. These engines go 300k+ when they are taken care of. I have 260k on my F22a and I can take out a stock untuned H22a powered CB7 without a problem. But recently, I have noticed that its starting to run a little rough and I may be losing compression on one cylinder. This doesn't help because I have been beating the living piss out of the poor thing for the past 6 years now. You may be able to find a JDM F22a that will probably outlast a "master rebuild."

I've read a couple things about jdm engines being hard to make legal here cause of emissions... what do you think? And what exactly is the diff between jdm and usdm f22's?

It comes with new pistons, piston rings, full gasket set, main barrings, rod battings, thrust washers, oil pump, timing belt, and balance shaft belt. That ones 300 - 500 depending where you get it, but there's another kit that comes with valve parts(can't remember what all it contained) and it was like 700. I need to figure out a plan quick... I have a feeling this motor is going downhill quick. Timing belt hasn't been changed in years. So if im gonna do the timing belt I have to rent space to do it cause I live in desert :| so I wanted to use the space for more than just the tb. Give that F22 some love.

Well im definitely not going to pay somebody I don't even know alot of money to do it. It be nice to know someone that could give me a hand, but I've done a few things on a few cars and and now that I've found this site and done alot of research, I feel confident. The only things im not familiar with are ecu and tranny.

So if I got this rebuild kit, what else should I get with it? I was thinking rods and maybe a bisi cam. But I want to replace the most worn parts first. I need a priority list if anyone could do that for me?

So I also have another question... due to the airfilter not being changed in years (the thing was so old and worn there were holes in it) the entire intake system from air box to as deep as I could see in the throttle body were coated with about a .16" layer of dirt... some spun out guy removed the intake from the tb and sprayed abunch of carb cleaner into it, and I mean about 2/3 of a can, and a little of it ran out but most went into the motor carrying along with it all that dirt... this was previously my brothers girlfriends car, and needless to say... yea. So I need to know if that's super harmful to sleeves and what not. Also what would you guys think the best repair manual to purchase is? I was gonna go with helms. P.s. is the only way to post pics with photobucket?

Are you saying that your f22 can beat an h22? If so what mods do you have done to your motor?

To the op: You could probably get a used motor for less than that if you look around. It would be easier to just drop in another one than rebuilding the one you have. If nothing else swap it out for another f22 and then you'll have a spare on the side that you can build.

Well, I thought about that already and realized that by buying another used f22 I will just be wasting money and time because I will just want to do the same thing to the next one. I want to do it for piece of mind, and experience. This is not my daily driver. Company truck = daily driver. I think im gonna start with valves, springs, cam, cam gear, seals gaskets, bearings, balance, and header. Sound like a good plan? O, and im gonna try to get a new tb. H22 tb on stock runners?

You more than likely just need to replace the timing set and water pump, no rebuild needed

What all is included in a timing set? Just the two belts?
