ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    What to do with transmission?

Can I rebuild my original f22a tranny with genuine Honda products? Whats the ticket on em like? Or other options... Help and your opinion is greatly appreciated.

    .peace.

Auto or manual? Either way, they can be rebuilt. The 2-3 shift in my 90 LX 5 spd got really bad, so I pulled it and took it to a transmission shop. Their price, $1100 to rebuild; they said it needed new third gear, all synchros, etc. I took it home in a box and wound up buying a used Prelude transmission for a few hundred. This was a probably 5+ years ago. If I had to do it again, I'd probably try to rebuild it myself just to see if I could. Majestic Honda is a good resource for Honda part prices (and parts!).

          24/7 right there.

Do you have the tools necessary to rebuild a transmission? Or the knowledge/experience/books you'd need to do it properly? I mean, everyone needs to learn somewhere... but be careful what you jump into. Transmissions are quite possibly one of the most complicated things to work on when it comes to these cars. If you don't know what you're doing, I suggest going to www.helminc.com and buying the manual for your car before you do anything else. Read up, and determine if this is something you want to try. Otherwise, you could end up with a mess of parts that are never going back together... or worse, a transmission that binds up when you're driving.

I'm saying this from the perspective of someone that has never attempted to even open a transmission. I've thought about it, read the book, and realized that I do not have the space, time, tools, or knowhow to do it properly.

I'll chime back in. By saying that they "can be rebuilt", I didn't mean to imply that rebuilding was easy just that it is possible. I did the same thing Deev did (already had the shop manual) and concluded at the time that I didn't want to attempt it; that's why I bought the used transmission. I kept the box of parts for quite a while thinking I might try to figure it out; I hate to throw things away that I think I can fix. Unfortunately I needed the space and time for other things and a fit of "I gotta clean this place up!" and took it to a recycler. I think I got about $30.
