ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

OEM front exhaust system to 2.25"?

I've seen ALOT of threads about the exhaust pipes and diameters. So here's one more. And yes, i've read most of those threads. Also there might be a small chance that I don't always understand exactly what part are we talking about. I've got the 4-2 header from F22A3 and also downpipe, flexpipe and the cat (all OEM). Rest is missing. The diameter should be 1,75" if i'm not completely wrong. The question is, does the 2.25" cat back fit on oem cat and should i change also the front end of the exhaust system to 2.25" to get the best from it (how big is the difference)? And no, I don't have afford to buy whole exhaust piping from big brands cause I would've done it already. I've also thought of buying the aftermarket cat back which i know will fit but don't know if i can gain any compared to 2.25".

the header and downpipe should be no bigger than 1.75-2" the collector on the otherhand, can be 2.25-2.5" for the rest of the piping to not bottle neck.

the stock cat will bolt up if has the same flange design, you can get different flange welded on to the cat back to match up with cat.

Most people just bolt a 2.25" exhaust to the OEM cat. There is a bit of a bottleneck in the header and cat, but it would be quite expensive to modify those to the 2.25" diameter.

Ok. Thanks! What about the performance issue. I'm going to get the deevergote's 30+ thread parts on F22A1, so what kind of gain there is on 2.25" compared to oem 1,75" cat back? Cause i like oem, who wouldn't but if there is possibility to gain something with the bigger pipe then i'm thinking about it.

The bottleneck created by the header's small collector and the cat will cost some power, but the larger piping after that will help some. It's the best you can do without spending a lot of money opening up those other parts. There will be a gain over OEM.

Thanks! I'll start looking the 2,25" backpiping. Got any good suggestions? Don't want any fart cannons on my car. Just the sound of masculin. You know what I mean. I just want it to be the power thats making the sound, not the whole car just shaking.
