ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    question about timing

ive searched and read and reread the timing threads and ones relating to it..my situation is slightly different. i have a new cb7 with a blown block to remove..i will be insralling the f22a1 out of my auto 92 coupe. i will be keeping the new cb's tranny and flywheel, tubular header, everything else intact. now i used the camshaft from this A1 on another engine as an replacement, didnt bother putting the rocker arm assembly back on either. i have always periodically rotated the engine to make sure it doesnt seize, even tho it has no reason to..just in case..so now i am reaasembling this originally automatic A1 which never saw more than 4000rpm due to transmission problems..i had a crank pulley break on me once and did that with complete head gasket set replacement..along with standard tune up replacements. so the engine itself is healthy, although i will do a compression test first. the head hasnt been taken off the block, i dont intend to. but installing a cam in a head installed on a block means valves will be opened, which has me wondering how exactly do i go about setting the bottom end as far as timing, when i do reinstall the camshaft? i already removed the auto flywheel, but i marked how it was bolted on, so if i need to put it back on its no problem, if markings on it are needed. so can i get some closure?

Whenever doing any type of working involving the engine timing the best thing to do is always set the number one cylinder to TDC.

reason im askin is i havent noticed any markings on my crank pulley (lol crack pulley wouldve been funny too)...i could use the red/white markings on the flywheel on the other side too i guess..just confused as to telling the compression and exhaust tdc's apart.

The key slot marks TDC, use a Sharpie to mark the face of the Crankshaft Pulley if it's not marked already; some have some dots or notches, some don't.

There should be a TDC marker on the cam gear as well.
