ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    F22A6 question..

Hello everyone. I have a question about the f22a6 motor.
Would this motor be considered a high rev motor?
The reason why i ask is my engine screams but it sounds like it could do more @ 9k. But i dont want to blow my engine. any one know the limitations or any specs. Please and Thanks

See that red line on your tachometer? That's where it's safe to take it. It's a 20 year old motor... it would not be a good idea to rev it that high. Power production falls off right around there as well.

Build it with forged internals, high compression, a modified head, a better camshaft, and a proper ECU tune... THEN you can rev it that high and make power doing it.

Are you seriously stating that you've been hitting 9k with that motor? How frequently? I see a new engine in your future, there's no way it's getting nearly enough air and fuel at that high an RPM level.

9k no way unless your tach is off

It'll rev that high... until it breaks.

I've taken my H22 to at least 10k before. By accident, of course... I'm not dumb enough to do it on purpose! (notchy shifter + redline shift from 3rd into 2nd = holyshitwhatdidibreak!!!)

Is it even possible to rev that high on a stock ECU? Fuel Cut is there for a reason so idiots dont blow up motors.

Fuel cutoff / rev limiter only works when your foot is buried in the gas.

When reading my owners manual whether it be for my 91 cb7, or my 09 ge8, they both say the rev limiter will not activate if you accidentally downshift. Yes you could be doing 90mph in 5th gear, and there is really nothing to stop you from throwing it into 1st gear, spin that motor to the moon.

Yeah, I have my rev limiter custom programmed... and I blew right past it.

The rev limiter can't stop a car from going to 10k from a misshift. You are mechanically forcing the engine faster. If you put the car in lets say 2nd while doing 80 the motor will have no choice but to go to 8000 rpm. If it didn't then you would go to a screeching halt on the highway which dosen't happen.

Yeah... if the car tried to stop itself, you'd grenade your transmission real fast!
