ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Swapped head car wont start

Hey guys I just swapped the head on my f22a1 this weekend, Now it wont start. I am getting fuel, spark, compression, and air. Im pretty sure that the timing is right considering i have not heard any knocking and i kept the belt in the same position. Has any one had this problem? Can anyone please help me?

You need fuel, spark, compression, and airflow for an engine to run. Assuming all parts are moving as they should (meaning, assuming the belt is intact and everything is turning) then you are not getting one of those things. At least not enough.

You're basically saying nothing is wrong with your engine, yet something is wrong with your engine. You need to look more closely and figure out what that is.

think you best doublecheck your timing. you say you didnt move the belt, but something is telling me the cam could be out of whack.

Did you swap an OEM head or something else?

I agree with the timing...turn your crank pully to its timing mark and see where the cam gear timing mark is at. Make the necessary adjustments and try again.

Oh shoot, thanks guys, im going to read the tdc off of the flywheel and allign the cam to that, I had aligned it to the number one cilinder being highest in its movement, ill double check the timing, I also had to replace a fuel pressure regulator as well. I pulled it from a junkyard out of a cb7 with 175k on it this is less than mine by 85k. If this regulator sits for a while with no fuel can it go bad can this also be the cause of no start?

Align it to the crank pulley, not the flywheel. The flywheel markings are 15 degrees off.

The cam gear and crank pulley should both be marked at TDC. Make sure both are set for the same cylinder, and you're good to go.

Just hope you didn't smack any open valves with a piston if it was THAT off...

it was not off that bad i did not hear any valves when i cranked it by hand can i see the TDC mark on the crank pulley with out taking the bottom cover off, because i have to pull the 2 accesory pulleys off for the removal of the cover

TDC on flywheel or flexplate is more accurate

its easier to just take off the driver side wheel and align the crank pulley with the mark. its not gonna be exact exact to the T accurate but as long as its close you should be ok. just make sure your timing belt stays tight and the side with the tensioner has all the slack from the belt or else it can skip. work slowly and take yourtime, and before u start to crank it over turn the crankshaft 3 complete revolutions and see if the marks still match, get it done right the first time. good luck!
