ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

    Affordable and reliable suspension question

I am looking for suspension for my cb7. I want to be able to adjust the height and stiffness. What suspension is pretty reliable and affordable?

    #2
Form and function autolife type 1 or 2 full coilovers. Tein basic or SS.

Or koni yellows and ground control sleeves.

Tokico has a DSpec coilover kit that is in the price range of the other kits mentioned. Tein Basic doesnt allow for stiffness (damper) adjustment.

Wow, unless Megan Racing introduced a new line, that's an insanely low price! I've seen MR coilovers go for over $1000. Most of their stuff is knockoff garbage, but I have yet to hear anything bad about their full coilovers. Someone once told me that they're rebadged Tanabe Sustec units... but I have never been able to confirm that.

Ah, ok. I would probably stay away from those, then... chances are, they ARE the cheap crap that I expect from a knockoff company!

If a company doesn't do their own R&D, and simply copies products from someone else... don't buy anything from them that requires any real engineering.

Really? How can we know for sure?

Their site has many claims of in-house fab work and rigorous R&D...

"Megan Racing takes great measures during R&D, pre-production, production, and post production to ensure that each individual product we produce is of the highest quality in the industry. Everything is produced under very strict quality control at overseas factories. Our factory and production methods are ISO9001 (International Standard Organization) certified since the beginning of the millennium taking the standards of automotive performance to new heights."...

I'd really like to know whether or not to trust their products. They seem to offer somewhat affordable suspension solutions, but is it reliable? That's the question...

It may be... the reported quality of their previous, more expensive coilovers surprised me. I never saw them in person, but I've heard all good, and no bad...

MAYBE they're finally beginning to do their own thing. I'm still skeptical, as they have no real engineering history... just copycat stuff. Granted, their copies are some of the best on the market, but still copies.

I've always liked the company, for the most part. I have a Megan Racing strut bar that is pretty much the best thing you can get short of a Neuspeed bar or an ESP unit. Still, something as important as suspension scares the bejeezus out of me. I don't feel comfortable trusting a company that doesn't have a long history of making (and engineering) performance parts. The suspension on my car now is H&R and Koni.

TRUE in my case i made a comparison of the ebay DNA coilover sleeves and the megan racing sleeves and there alike in not just the look but also the ride quality is the same! BEWARE!

Yeah, but they are only like $100. I will likely be getting a set temporarily solely because I can't stand the look of my car at stock ride height.

I am looking for more info on these full coilovers as well. They are the frontrunner in my search for decent ride quality, affordability, and adjustability. From everything I have read, though, they are pretty legit.

Don't get cheap crap for suspension... if it brakes, you crash. It's far more than just an appearance option!

You could always go with Blackworks. They are a legit company with great prices. When I get my title issues sorted out with the CB I am going with them, Bisi, ESP, and BRMS for all my aftermarket needs.

I talked to a few couple of guys that have had the cheapo Megan sleeves and said the ride wasn't that great, but that otherwise they seemed fine. Is it really that big of a safety issue though?
