ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Suspension issues.

    91 lx coupe.

It was lowered when i got it a little over a year ago (with brand names that i can't remember for anything). Up until very recently i've had no problems with it. While changing my brakes one day i took off the front passenger tire and noticed a nice ring of wire showing on the tire. So obviously the tire is rubbing on something. I raised the car up a couple inches and the problem seemed to cease... for a bit.

Then i noticed there was a popping sound coming from the front end. That turned out to be a wheel bearing. I got that replaced and the popping stopped.. for a bit.

Now i'm completely stumped. My new tire has a nice fresh ring of wire showing again. And i'm going to do my best to describe this.

When the car is parked there is nothing touching the tire anywhere. So i assume that whatever is rubbing only does it whenever i drive (either when i hit bumps, or just all the time.. i have no idea). When i begin to drive there is an one initial popping sound. Now this.. i have no clue what it is.

The car won't make a sound again until i stop accelerating. Then it makes a consistent popping sound (the faster i'm going, the faster the popping is). It will continuously pop until i accelerate again.. then it stops.

The only thing i can think is that something is rubbing the tire somewhere and whenever i accelerate it tilts the car back enough to get it off the tire.. but i don't really know..

It's only the front passenger wheel that i have any problem with. And i don't know what it is..

    Any idea?

When you say a ring of wire, Im guessing you mean the cords in the tire?

You should pull the wheel and take a good look, any place hitting the tire should be obvious. It'll either be clean and shiny or have black rubber on it. Either way, you'd better park the car until it's fixed. Blowouts are no fun and whatever is going on is putting you very close to having one. If those cords get cut, the tire will come apart in a hurry.

Yeah i mean that the wires of the tire are showing in a ring around the tire. I've had a blowout before... it was awful.

I have to get this fixed though... The place i took it to couldn't find anything that was bad and their suggestion was "to wait until it gets worse"....

Why would this tire be rubbing but not the driver side front tire?

      I'm so fucking lost...

The camber is a little off. I've thought about picking up a camber kit. My only thing is that the camber is off on both of the front tires yet only the passenger rubs... I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

you need to get a camber/toe test done. camber will eat tires, but toe will eat through them that much faster...

I would suggest going to a Hibdon Tires(if theres one near you), I recently worked there, and I know they do free alignment checks. So, if you've got time one day you could go and get a free check for your toe and camber.

make sure the drop is even. measure both side.
i know my drop might be off by a little and one tire is wearing out more then the other

the poping could be a bad axle ,and i suggest a wheel alignment.

Where is the ring showing up on the tire? outside, middle or inside? Does the popping noise change when you turn or only when you accelerate. You could try liftin the passanger side and with the tire still bolted on, put two hands on opposite sides of the wheel and check for any movment when applying force to either hand. The only thing I can think of if everything checks out is your wheel bearing could either prematurly wore out from impropper install or factory defect.

are you sure its not your negative camber eating the tires....have you got and alignment since you bought it? get an alignment and measure all sides to make sure there even.

The ring is on the inside of the tire. There is also more wear around the ring on the tire, which i always just assumed was from the camber being off. I've lifted both sides of the car as far as i can with coilovers i have. But still only the passenger side rubs.

I'm taking it tomorrow to a front end specialist out here. I've been told they're the best and that they know there shit, so hopefully this works out.

                          Appreciate everybody's help.
