ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Foamy, overflowing power steering fluid

    Foamy, overflowing power steering fluid

The power steering fluid in my '91 EX bubbles up to near the surface of the reservoir and then spills out the top of the reservoir once I shut the engine off. This seems to be the case regardless of whether I am driving, warming the car up but not driving anywhere; and regardless of whether I steer hard or don't steer at all.

This is a recent problem. Prior to this, my car was out of commission for about two weeks since I was waiting on a new distributor and ICM. I installed these last Sunday, and after starting my car and warming it to test the new distributor, I noticed a funny smell and followed it to the puddle of power steering fluid that had formed on top of the PS fluid reservoir.

It has been cold lately where I am, if this means anything. I know the PS fluid isn't suppose to freeze. The hoses look fine. I'm going to clean and dry the area. It's hard to tell right now since the fluid that spilled is still on some of the hoses and in the engine compartment. Fluid level is/was also fine - not too high and not too low. Lastly, I DID use Honda specific PS fluid.

    Any ideas?

No new steering rack. Why do you ask?

I'm going to degrease, rinse, and dry the area - then inspect for leaks.

            Areas susceptible to leaks?

Are there any areas more susceptible to leaks than others that I should look for?

turn the wheel with the engine on left to right all the way till the steering stops, that should bleed the system.
