ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Alright so im looking around and i wanna lower my car. Its a 92 LX sedan by the way. I need to know all i need to get for the process i want to do. I figured the im going to get struts and lowering springs. I want a good 3inch drop atleast. I dont want to get coil overs at the moment its not in my price range. I got almost 500 to spend....a full list would be very helpful!

You need quality lowering springs. Not cheap crap from ebay, or cut springs... those things are dangerous.

You need shocks (struts... the term is interchangeable with our cars) that are capable of handling the spring that you choose... both height AND spring rate. I suggest Koni STR.T if you're on a budget. Nothing cheaper than that, or you're putting yourself at risk.

You'll need a camber kit. Especially if you plan on going lower than 2"... but still recommended with any drop. DO NOT cheap out here. Ingalls or SPC only. TASauto.com makes a very good full upper control arm set that comes with an Ingalls kit pre-installed. I have that on my car.

You will need an alignment as soon as you lower your car. Drive 3000 miles after lowering without an alignment, and your tires will be showing belts. Alignment is mandatory!

Other than that, replace any worn bushings that you see along the way. Be prepared to replace an axle or two if you damage a boot or separate a joint.

And there's no U in "wondering"

Great. Let's hope you don't need to stop suddenly... because you won't.

DO NOT LOWER YOUR CAR ON STOCK SHOCKS.

you also cannot lower your car at least 3 inches for 500$. Between shocks, springs, camber kit, alignment you just cannot do it (unless you go used, not a good idea) with quality pieces.....

suspension is not an area to cheap out on.

I'd like to add one more link:

                  http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=139318

This thread has plenty of information regarding aftermarket spring stiffness and magnitude of drop. If you scroll down further, you'll find a list of aftermarket shocks as well.

Read these links thoroughly before buying something. If you want a smooth ride, you'll generally want to avoid stiff springs. Similarly, if you don't mind your teeth chattering when driving on pockmarked pavement, you can select stiffer parts.
