ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Synthetic oil?

So what would it really do for my engine? I do put at a minimum of 90 miles on my F22a6 everyday, to work and back. I asked a couple trusty mechanics but oil is oil to them, which is very true anyway. Been running cheap stuff for as long as I can remember, and I want to take better care of her if its possible. So if someone else with an F who cares could help that would be great. btw im up to 178k now.. Thank you for your time and reading.

    .peace.

For a bone stock engine, all you really need is a quality oil of the correct weight, changed at the appropriate intervals.

Synthetics are great when an engine takes a lot of abuse, especially when it can generate increased amounts of heat. If you're not highly modified, racing, or maintaining high RPMs... and don't have a need to change your oil at longer intervals than what is recommended, then you don't need synthetic.

I have a 2009 Fit. I put synthetic in it (and have been doing so since it was new, after the break-in period.) I drive 300 miles a day, engine running for 10+ at a time, stop and go in the cities, lugging up mountains, and tearing down the highway at 4,000 RPM. I usually change my oil every 10,000 miles. 160,000 miles so far, with no issues whatsoever from the engine.

Well, a high quality synthetic wouldn't hurt anything, other than your wallet if it ends up being more protection than your engine requires.

The only downside to synthetic is that with an old engine, sythetic can be thinner, and find leaks (or even clean out gunk that is plugging a leak) faster than a regular oil. A lot of people say "don't use synthetic, it causes leaks!"... which isn't exactly true... it's just more likely to find them if they exist!

Also, the switching between synthetic and regular stuff is a myth... if you don't know that already. It's harmless to go to synthetic and switch back to regular.

Actually synthetics last 3x longer they are more exp at first but in the long run they are cheaper, plus they protect better, reduce drag, and last longer

i think castrol & pennzoil 10/40 or 20/50 you would be good. when i had my f22a1 i used 20/50 and never got any problems.

I've had good results with Pennzoil Platinum w/ "adaptive molecules." Engine runs quieter and its not my imagination. Off the shelf at WalMart.

Believe it or not a good cheap synthetic is walmarts supertech for regular duty engines.

Nothing goes in my accord but royasl purple. Id done a shiiiitload of research as my valvtrain was getting fucked up on Mobiile one (damned US EPA regs against ZDDP).

Yeah, Valvoline Synpower is also an excellent formula.

Get castrol syntec or valvoline otherwise get what bisi gets, rp, or amsoil
I avoid mobile 1 cause their synthetic used to not actually be synth. Just use castrol or valvoline full synthetic, change the oil filter every 5k, fully change the oil a 15k and you come out cheaper at 15k. don't be dumb and by no name oil, I wouldn't use that crap in my lawn mower
