ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Transmission having issues

So my cb7 is having afew issues with the transmission. Today when i stopped at a stop sign the D4 light on the dash went out and the car wouldnt move more then 3mph if that. So i placed it into park and shut the car off and then turned it back on and the car was stuck in park so i placed my extra key in the shift slot hole and placed it into D4 and it still did nothing. So i placed it into 1st gear and it moved but once i placed it into 2nd it did nothing but once i placed it into D3 it shifted right into it fine. But everytime i would go to a stop i would have to put it back into 1st gear or i wouldnt be able to move at all. Once i got home i put it into reverse the reverse and D4 light would be on till i moved. I have looked up this issue but cant find a final issue...So im thinking its either tcu, trans cable or the shift solenoid.

This is my daily driver and need it fixed asap. Thank you very much and this is a 92 LX btw

The D4 light usually comes on when there's an error code coming from the TCU, so if the light won't come on at all, it's entirely possible that the TCU itself is bad. If you know anyone local that has a working TCU, see if you can borrow it to see if it fixes the problem.

A cable or electrical connection may also be the probem.

Before you do anything, check the fluid level. Make sure it's full and clean. Change it if you don't know when it's been changed last. Use Honda ATF... and nothing else!

Thanks for re-posting with a better title. I apologize for making your thread be the first one to be deleted.

It okay i undertand why you did delete it. I was just freaking out becasue i barely got home. But my transmission fluid need to be changed some time now. But i got the car from a friend and he told me everyonce in awhile it would not shift into D4 but he would just unplug the battery and it would be fine again. But im worried but the car not being able to shift outer park with using the key hole. He never had that issue at all. Would the tcu as well make that happen??

When you shift into other gears, does the light on the dash show the correct gear?

Also Yes, it is possible the TCU has taken a crap, and if so it will cause a world of problems.

You can check the trouble codes for the TCU with the same method used to check the check engine light codes. Just look at the D4 light rather than the check engine light.

If you get nothing from that, you should take a closer look at the TCU. It is located under the carpet in the passenger footwell. Take out the whole plate with the ECU and TCU on it. The TCU is the smaller of the two and only has two plugs going into it. Open it up and look for any burning or leaking capacitors. If you don't notice anything you may want to either borrow a TCU from a friend to see if that fixes the problem, or go to a junkyard and pull one out of a car.

Do the fluid change as well. These transmissions are VERY sensitive to fluid.
