ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Oil In Spark Plugs

Hey Guys, I know to replace my Spark Plug Tube Seals and VC Gasket, This is about the small puddles of oil in my tubes. Will my motor burn it off or should i try to get as much out as i can? Thanks.

I believe it burns it off...I had tha same issue...Drove my car for a week n checked it and it was gone...But you might want to check around...Because I believe it was two weeks to a month later I blow my engine...But that could have been because of my ignorance...And because I had a oil leak and couldn't find it...
My signature was removed because it was too big.

I would not let it empty into the engine...that is not a "clean" location. Dirt can easily fall in from on top of the vc when you take the wires off and then into the engine when you remove the plugs.

I have a vacula, I pour in some engine cleaner and suck it out...I do that a few times before taking out the plugs. Won't get everything that might fall in...my engine bay is a dirty dirty bitch though too so I take extra precautions.

But...just clean the top of the vc really good first before removing the wires though and you should be ok...you just want to keep stuff from falling into the tubes when you take off the wires.

thanks man, really a thought i had was i have an old shop vac with a tore up filter...piece of crap really haha well you get the idea but i will definitely clean dirt and what not from the valve cover. you think spraying the valve cover (when off the engine) with brake cleaner would be alright? i have new (NGK) plugs and wires and new oil im going to put in after i replace the Tube Seals.

That would work, just leave the old plug wires on while you do it. There is a little lip around the tube and the plug wires sorta seal it. Some brake cleaners will strip the black paint off the old vc though so go easy...I found that out the hard way. You could use plain old water or some degreaser, just try to not let it get in the tube.

either way your idea should work

I had the same issue. Replaced the vc gaskets and let it run. The oil burned off and I no longer have the issue. This was the stock f22a1.

Do you plan to replace just the upper tube seals or the lower ones as well? Leaking lower seals are the main reason for oil in the plug tubes.

You NEED to do both upper and lower. I only replaced the uppers and the leaking was not as bad, but it still does.

Did mine like two weeks ago.
The bigger ones go under your valve cover, ( upper seals )
The smaller "O rings" go under the rocker arm assembly,( lower seals ).
This is where the top seals make contact fro the valve cover

This is where the lower seals make contact under the rocker arm assembly.

I just did it this way.

Good idea, and I wish I had taken more pics.
Yes you will see it when you take your valve cover off, just turn it over and
                          "BAM" there they are.

This is the DIY and has a picture of the upper seals.

Wow, the smaller o-rings go under the rocker arm huh. Hmf, If my swap don't go on schedule i guess i'll be doing my vc gasket again the right way soon. Well it cleared up the problem with oil though.
