ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

milling vtec head for more compression.

I have a poa-2, vtec head that's going on my f22a block and i need to know how much i can mill off of it, I'm trying to raise the compression and i don't want to take to much off. It has the stock cam in it its a sohc, but i am eventually gonna put a bisi stage 1 or stage 2 in vtec cam in it. I will appreciate any and all the help i can get, thanx... and the block is all stock.

are you putting aftermarket parts into the block? why not just buy high compression pistons? if the cylinder head is perfectly flat then you shouldn't need to get the head milled. imo

who is doing the machine work for you?

you can use this site to calculate compression. http://www.zealautowerks.com/

I dont know how far you can mill a honda head but I know milling a head is cheaper than new pistons and a bore job. You wont get as much of a bump in compression as domed pistons but its a lot cheaper.

yeah but if he mills off too much material now and then warps his head later, it's trashed. Id do it the right way and save up a little more for the proper pistons.

not only that but when you mill to much off then the timings belt starts becoming to big and you must get shorter ones b/c the tensioner cannot get tight enough

            Milling the head causes problems.

The valve timing is off. The timing belt is loose. The valves can get dangerously close to the pistons (float a valve, and your motor is done.) Furthermore, if you overheat and warp the head, you won't be able to remove any additional material to make it straight again. Your head will be garbage at that point.

If you want higher compression, replace the pistons. If that's too much money or effort for you, then find something else to do.
