ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    radio wire harness

i want to replace the wire harness that gets hooked up to the radio.
how far back does it go?

is there any way to replace them??? do i have to change the whole wire harness through out the car?

The wires in that harness go to all the speakers and fuse box through other wire harnesses in the car. It would be a lot of work to replace. If you want access to each individual wire that goes into the back of the radio (on the connector). You have two options:

    1. Hack it up by cutting off the connector (not recommended)
    2. Go to Best Buy or any car audio store and buy a conversion harness typically used for aftermarket radio installs (recommended)

FYI, you should post this in the Audio/Electronics section not the Beginner Technical/Performance. This is probably going to get moved or deleted for not following he rules. You should know this. Besides thats were you will find the audio installers and audio gurus.

If you remove your center console and ash tray, and look into the lower-center portion of the dashboard you'll see where it ends. It's part of the dashboard wiring harness that clips into the rest of the car's wiring, via three connectors (gray, blue, and brown).

The entire sound system wiring, yes; but the actual radio harness can be replaced.

The radio connection is actually part of the dash harness. It can be replaced - quite painlessly, actually. This means you'll have to pull the dashboard out far enough to replace this section of the harness. Kind of time consuming and kind of more work than it's worth, though.

That being said, though, it's a huge pain in the ass. I highly recommend cutting another connector and soldering it to your car's dash harness rather than replacing the harness.
        My pictures/photos will return soon...

get the repair/replacement harnesses from ebay and you will be good

certain wires in the harness just do not go bad because they are basically never messed with once installed
