ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

car studdering with the hood on!?

    92 ex 5sp.
With the hood on the car studders
With the hood off the car runs fine.
Regrounded all my grounds (the motor was out of the car)

I was thinking maybe I have a bad harness or it may be pinched somewhere.
Obviously something is getting hot and acting retarded with the hood on.

This car is turbo swapped with a basemap tune from keizenspeed (dsm 14b setup)
Any suggestions or thoughts I might be missing?

A pinched harness should be pretty easy to track down. Look for anyplaces it runs near the hood pinch points. If it's getting hot enough under there to affect the engine running with the hood on, then you have to figure out what is making the car run hot. How many times have you taken the hood off and put it back on to check that it's related?

Does it do it with the hood on but open? More information is needed from your end so we can help you out.

It happenned driving back from missoula.
The car started studdering and shaking very vigorously. It scared the hell out of me.
Then it stopped running goin 75mph.
I had to wait for it to cool off then limped it to the gas station
        (But it wasn't overheating?)
I saw a lot of heat waves coming from the motor bay.
Bought some tie downs and strapped the hood to the roof :/
Drove back home with no problems 2 hrs away
The ecu has a 1lb boost cut. Breaking in the motor

The plugs and wires are ngk
        Irid sparkplugs.
        Good thought though

my guess is an electrical issue. 14b turbo puts out a lot of heat fron what I read.
        I believe it truly

The car litterally acts retarded and stops running. But its not overheating.
Other people are running 14b's why can't I with the hood on.
I don't like showing my goodies haha

you could have a coil issue excessive heat can caust the coil to miss and over heat causing a stalling situation

There's no reason to "upgrade" the coil. The stock ignition system can handle up to or over 500hp. Changing things to add MSD components will only introduce more opportunities for something to go wrong.

              And studder isn't a word.
