ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Car cranks and cranks but just wont start.

OK, i was messin with my car the otherday and forgot that i had the car in the on position.

I unpluged the injecter resister box and pluged it back in, i dont know why i did this but i did.

I went out too my car the next morning and it wouldnt start, it would crank and crank but it wont start.

Ive replaced the spark plugs and the resister box and still nothing.

I dont want to replace everything and fid out that it was something that was stupid and little.

BTW yes ive checked the fuses and relays under the hood and the fuses inside.

I looked it up online and im thinkin it is the main relay but....... IDK

Please give me your input, my car is sittin on the side of the road and its killin me to have to leave it there.

    Better.

Did you check to see if it's not starting due to a lack of spark or fuel? It sounds like you don't know what it is that you're not getting.

First, check for fuel. Listen for the fuel pump. If that works, then the pump and main relay are fine. Pull a spark plug, crank it briefly, and smell for fuel. If that works, your injectors are firing (at least that one is), and the resistor box is fine.

Plugs are only part of your ignition system. Check the condition of your wires, especially where they connect. Replace your distributor cap and rotor. Your ignition coil or igniter may be bad... but don't go replacing them yet, because they're expensive. Rule out the other stuff first (unless you can get a few cheap ones from a junkyard... I've had luck that way myself.)

The very first thing you should do, though... is clean and tighten all grounds and battery connections. A dirty or loose battery cable can allow enough power to turn the engine, but not enough to start the car. I learned that myself the hard way... after spending $300 on parts I didn't need.

Without knowing if it's fuel or spark, assuming the main relay is useless. Yes, it is a common thing to fail, especially in hot weather... but it's far from the only thing. Don't go telling people to replace expensive parts until the problem is identified!
