ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

I am getting an F22B1 SOHC VTEC motor.

Since my A4 went out on me, I am in the need of a motor fast and have found this f22b2 sohc tec motor w/ manual tranny for $300. I know these engines are shit when it comes to making good power, but I wanted something easy that just bolts right on down to my mounts, and uses pretty much the same of everything.

With that being said, whats the easiest, cheapest way to get a little more punch out of this motor?

    EDIT : Meant B1, not b2.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong... but aren't some modifications necessary to bolt it down? I don't believe it's a direct drop-in like the F22B DOHC would be. Not TOO hard, but along the lines of an H22 swap.

Cheapest and easiest way? F23A1 intake manifold. Bisimoto camshaft, nitrous...

I wouldn't put too much money into NA performance. If you want to do anything that costs more than a few hundred dollars, I'd go turbo. You can make a respectable amount of power with a turbo F22B1...

I edited your title for you.

do what deev said, but you could just do a 50-75 shot safely. i did a 100 shot on my old cb and it held and ran like a champ for a little over a year......till boom. but yea.

Yeah, anything over a 75 shot is a risk. A 50 shot is pretty much foolproof... especially if you get a kit like Zex, that pretty much does all the thinking for you.

Darn, I might have to back out on the deal of this one. If its gonna take that extra bit of work just to get this thing in there, i'd rather just save and put it onto an h22 swap. Either that or get an JDM F22B

you should do it. build a completely built nitrous motor. do a 150 shot.

Like deeve said, not worth it...

I would've had a good running A4 if it hadnt left me so soon.

I'm gonna look around for another F series motor.

I'm not a nitrous fan, and we decided not to get the motor. Gonna look into another F22Ax or JDM F22B, to many folks have H22's in our cb chassis.

I love the argument that "I don't want an H22 because everyone else has it".

That's about as smart as saying "I like to poop standing up because everyone else sits down to do it!"

Dollar for dollar, and in terms of ease, the H22 is the best option you have. If you don't want an H22, the only other truly logical option is to modify the hell out of an F22A. Every other option falls short in one way or another.

Get what is going to make your car more fun to drive. Don't get an engine to be "different". You drive one of the most common cars on the continent. If "different" is your goal, you picked the wrong chassis!
