A friend of mine acquired a COMPLETELY totaled 96 accord 4 door, LX. It hit a scissor lift going 45mph, knocked it over into the road =S
He's looking to get rid of it, it's got a 5 speed, and an F22b2, 129K miles, but it's been sitting in what's left of the engine bay, up in a field for about a year and a half now, hood was still covering the engine.
What sort of benefit could I get from this engine? Which parts are superior to mine? Intake? Head? ECU? And what would be different in the transmission? At this point, I'm looking at it as a potential spare engine for my car, as well as to acquire the lower timing cover I'm missing on my current engine.
It has what look like a brand new pair of shocks and lowering springs too, which excites me
But having been in a wreck, there could be a hole punched through the block on the back side, and I would never know till I got the car home and torched the front end off. Just looking to see if it's worth the $100 he's asking. The rest of the car doesn't have a straight panel on it, all the glass is broke, air bags deployed etc etc.
I'm also curious how to tell if a Honda transmission has limited slip, as my car does not, I know for sure. But how could you tell without turning wheels or moving the car (as there is not much of a car to move and neither axle survived the wreck) is there a number I could look at that would confirm or deny the presence of LS?
