ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Noise from front susp while driving

I tried searching but couldnt find what I was looking for so I decided to post a new thread. link me if you find a thread that helps, thanks.

Ok so I was getting my rear shoes replaced and then the guy bleed the brakes all around.

Not sure if it has anything to do with it but right after that as I drove off I noticed a noise that keeps repeating over and over again and the faster I go the faster the noise goes.

It doesnt have to do with the engine speed. Only the car speed. so when I drive slow I hear a slow clicking and as I speed up the clicking speeds up also. I checked the tires and even switched them and the sound stayed in the front so nothing is stuck in the tires. I was thinking maybe its the passenger side axle because when I turn hard right I hear clicking and when I turn hard left I hear nothing. But Im not sure if its the axle because it makes the same noise when turning right as driving straight. Unless the axle is just that bad? Is it possible for the axle to cause that noise when driving straight?

Also some people said it was the ball joint, Is it possible that its the axle and the ball joint went bad at the same time?

Tomorrow im going to go to more mechanics for opinions. the problem is the 3 I went to today all said 3 different things so I dont know who to trust.

Does the noise change when you brake?

sounds like you have a bad left axle joint , when turning right the weight is on the left axle and it will click if its bad, and if it is bad it will also click going straight....

Doesnt seem like it. Say im going 40mph and brake to a full stop, it still makes the same noise it just starts to slow down as the speed slows down. Even if Im rolling at 10mph it still makes the noise just slower.

so what would be the solution? are you saying change the axle or change the lower ball joints?

change the left axle, lower ball joints when bad will have up and down play between the spindal and the lower control arm , and sometimes when bad they squeek when turning the steering back &forth....

A clicking noise while driving is most likely the axle, ball joints will pop and squek but usually over bumps or turns

Also check the wheel bearings/hubs. Jack up the car and see if there is play when you grab the wheel 12-6 and shake it.

a good way to test the bearings is just like f22hb said, but if there is play have someone step on the brake and try again if the play goes away with the brake depressed deff wheel bearing

                          Remove the wheel.

Spin the axle and see from several side on views to see if any part of the thin metal dust shields are touching the discs.

not sure if this is where the noise was coming from but today the driver side wheel snapped completly off on the highway in the rain.

The noise got louder and I went into the right lane and then onto the shoulder and as soon as I got in the wheel fell off while I was going about 10 mph and it just kept on rolling away.

2 wheet studs snapped completly off. had to get a tow home.

Not sure what to do now. 2 studs r completly cracked off and the other two are kinda damaged. Hopefully I can have all 4 replaced.
