ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    It died.......again

I've been having problems with this car from day one.

Anyhow, last Saturday we had a large storm roll through the dropped about 5 in or so of rain, luckily I wasnt driving in it. The next day I hop in my cb7 and I notice it making a weird noise, can't really describe it but I noticed it right away. It was acting kind of sluggish and the motor was a little bit jerky. The next day I was driving home from work and it gradually lost power. I would hit the gas and nothing would happen until it slowly ran down and died and I can't get it to start again. I'm wondering if it could be either the fuel pump or the filter. Could I be right or am I completely off?

    Thanks

does your car have any leaks , when it pours like that ? maybe worth the time to pull the carpet on the passenger side . see if you have any water around you e.c.u. shield. also did you check the dist. and see if you had any condensation ?

A man that keeps looking back can't see whats in front of him.

I haven't had any problems like this in any other weather. I haven't checked the distributor, but it's been sitting for over a week to dry out And it still doesn't start as of this afternoon. I'll check it as soon as I can just to double check. I don't expect to find anything though cause I didn't even drive it that day so I dont know how water could get in there.

maybe there is a hole on the otherside of the ECU behind the passenger footwell and water got down there? just a thought. You can get a new one at pick-n-pull

U gotta go through the elimination process. Determine if ur getting spark or fuel. Pull the intake off, open the throttle body and spray brake cleaner in it for a second or two. Quickly start the car, if it fires up for a couple seconds u have spark and no fuel. If it doesnt start, well u have an ignition issue. Try that and see where u get. good luck

I can see how it's possible that water made it's way to some various part of my engine however; I think it would be quite difficult to get anywhere to cause these kinds of problems be quad the day ofthe storm the car didn't move an inch. But I'm no expert, that's why I ask you fine people for help.

This may be a real long shot, but could it possibly be the flywheel? here is my reasoning:

When I first got the car it would make a bunch of noise around 3k rpm. I replaced the starter a couple weeks ago die to a dead spot and most of he noise went away. Could it be that the teeth on my flywheel are destroyed the starter and vice versa, and the fact it died and started acting weird after the storm is just coincidence?

Like I said a long shot

Making sure your alternator didn't die, does the battery still have voltage? Did you have dash lights come on when it was in the process of dying? Got a voltmeter!?

My voltage is fine, all the lights come on and beep and all that fun stuff. I don't think its my battery, I haven't had any problems with that.

                          very true......

did the starter fluid thing, it sounded like it wanted to start for a couple seconds, but never actually started

sounds like the ignition module to me, a few months back I switched my internal coil to a accel and went through 3 modules in a month all givin me the same symptoms, have u noticed a jumpy tach at all?
