ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    F22b dilema!!!!

i have a 91 accord with a f22a4. turns out my pistons are no good. so i wanted to know if its a good idea to get a f22b block. would everything from my f22a4 be compatible with the f22b?

Just buy another F22a4 block if you want to use all the rest of your F22a4 parts.

Get it from the JY or get it new. Since its the same engine your sure everything is 100% compatible.

Not completely sure but i think any F22ax block will do.

Buying a good used F22aX engine and bolting it, is in my opinion easier and cheaper than changing blocks, head gaskets etc etc.

However it may not last as long as one with a new cylinder rings and walls etc. (well the block component any way)

Depends i guess on how long you intend to keep the car (and what condition it currently is).

You'd be taking the motor apart to put the head on a new block... you could simply take the motor apart and replace the pistons in that case!

Mismatching blocks is never a good idea. The F22B DOHC block is nearly identical to the F22A block, and the F22Bx (5th gen) are similar. You COULD do it, but the more you mix things up, the greater the chances are that you'll do something wrong, and have an unreliable engine. Mixing up blocks and heads are best left to pure project cars. Cars that you can afford to have blow up if you get something wrong.

The transmission, yes. Mounting it will take some modification. Converting it from OBD2 to OBD1 will take some modification. It's a fair amount of work for an engine that won't be any better than what you have. If you're going to go through that much of a hassle, shell out a couple extra bucks for an H22 and at least upgrade! Or an F22B DOHC for about $750. 60hp and direct drop-in. Not a bad deal.

97 Accord motor is also a terrible platform for performance upgrades compared to the F22A.

I sold my F22A1 with the transmission with 166k on it back in 2003 for $50. The deals are out there.
