Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

For just about any Honda, use the factory service manual. They're normally $25-$100.

The only other options are Chilton's (which covers all Accords and Preludes from 1984-1994... which is a HUGE range of very different cars, all jumbled together!) and Haynes (much better, but not written very well...)

Those two cheap ones are good additional references, but if you really want to work on your car yourself, the Helm manual (which is the factory manual) is one of the most valuable tools you'll ever buy.

No manual is perfect (which really means you can get stuck, or undone in a middle of a job with just one).

I suggest a multi pronged approach.

I use Chiltons, but even that has minor errors or missing information (I'm sure another manual will have its errors also).

However if you have Haynes, it may have its short comings where the Chiltons does not.

Combined manuals will cover more bases (so if your lost with one manual's explanation or dont think its right you have another to back it up or explain it clearer).

        Just additional info:

However no manual will give you a practical approach and actual experience (common problems and fixes) from a non standard point of view. These manuals approach the issue from a perspective all works as intended (no alternative measures and non-standard approaches which a 20yr old car may have).

Supplement the ideal "text book approach" (which these manual really are) with the practical approach (actual problems, mysterious findings and subsequent fixes and answers) using the Net and CB7Tuner. The practical approach i find really compliments the text book approach.

          agreed.

the ones they have at the dealership beat the crap out of chilton's, helm's, and haynes. but if you're somewhat mechanically inclined, you could do fine with any. later.

x2, Haynes and Chilton can lead you down the wrong path in a hurry if you're not paying attention.

Google around for service manuals, you'll be able to find a lot.

                Thanks Everyone

Yeah through experience I knew Haynes and Chilton suck.
I'd be halfway through the job thinking, "Where is the missing page".
                Not fun.
Did not know about Helm's. But it seems a step above.
Called the dealership with no luck.
They told me to go to Helm's

TypeG, can you get a Honda shop manual? And where?
I'm just getting it now to do the port seals and cam seal,
so I'll know the torque and sequence. However next year she goes in the yard for a full rebuild, so I need the most complete reference.
And of course the support of cb7tuner

                      Ah, ok.

The Helm manual IS the Honda manual.

                      From www.helminc.com
Why Buy Original OEM? Why Helm Publications?

                      * Helm only sells manuals written by the manufacturer (Original OEM), designed specifically for your vehicle or equipment.
                      * Original OEM Manuals are more accurate and complete than any other service information available. OEM Manuals contain thousands of pages of diagnostic and repair information!
                      * These are the same manuals your dealer service center uses so you know you're getting the technical information needed to service and maintain your vehicle or equipment.
                      * Many OEM Manuals include diagramed repair and replacement procedures, electrical diagrams and training information.

                        Thanks Again.
I'll be ordering mine now from Helm Inc.

And Yes I thought it was different.
But, it should have been an obvious clue when that's where the dealer told me to go.

Helm's manual you can buy is the same one the dealer has. The manual does assume you have a working knowledge of cars.

Very true, but no more than any of the cheaper, crappier manuals.

The Helm manual lays it out very clearly, with detailed diagrams. If you can't figure it out by the diagram, the instructions, and actually looking at your own car... then perhaps it's time to pay a mechanic and choose another hobby!

                              I agree

And thank you for that advice.
I need the manual for torque specifications
So when I use my proper calibrated torque wrench I can
not screw up and twist a bolt off and make sure I follow the right bolt
                              sequences.
I am a beginner here and with the cb7, not with auto mechanics.
My 92 ex is my daily driver for the rest of this year, (270,000 miles)
And I have to keep her in shape until next year when she goes in the yard
I fell in love with cb7's the last year after owning two.
I bought the 92 ex with the strict intension of a full overhaul.
Call me crazy, but I love that car.
Anyway, I wanted to make sure I was getting the most complete reference for our cars from the get go,
because of the full rebuid next year.
                              So thank you again.

No ... I'm sure I have the right hobby... lol.
