ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Hello... Noob with a couple of questions

let me introduce myself. name is Ron and am new to the Forum and Honda's, at least working on them. I have 2 Accords. a 1991 and 1992. The 1991 I bought for $400. and is bone stock and runs ok but needs some work.
The 1992 was given to me by the same guy I bought the other one from. Doesn't run at the moment. No spark, he thought the timing belt broke and didn't want to mess with it. Turns out to belt is ok.

Question is with all the research I have done for the 1992 motor it should have a F22A1 but has a F20A SOHC motor in it which as far as I can tell was not factory installed in the US. my guess is motor must of been swapped at one point. Numbers on motor are F20A 1873225.

Since there is no spark, all electronics work by the way, motor turns over ect., should I get another whole distributor or just try and change the igniter or something else? Also took the old distributor out and no numbers on this thing. What are the correct numbers for replacement distributor for an F20A?

    any insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Ron

dont quote me, cause i dont know the specific differences (if any) between the f22 and the f20 dizzy. but i think youd be able to swap enough usable parts from the dizzy on your running car to diagnose the dead one. maybe even swap the whole thing.
like i said, im not certain but it may save you a few bux.

    Bought from: Bisimoto, FuncOvrForm, HondaGuy1212, wed3k, Konigstiger, 1st2run, BillKisme, k-mart, benjerman112

Ya, I have not a clue between the differences, if any between the F20a and F22a1 either. Looking at the sticky in this forum seems most everything is the same as far as specs, from what I looked at. I just am not certain that the distributors are the same and would be able to diagnose the F20A with an distributor off my F22A1.

      anyone??

If its not turning over all the way check the battery and starter wires and grounds. Then if not starting try takeing your distrib to a parts store and have them test the electrical components. mine did the same ting and they tested it and i had to end up getting a new distrib.

            Update.

It turned out to be a bad coil. Easy fix.
