So my 5spd tranny had a chunk of metal missing where the mount attaches to. There three bolt holes, the one to the rear is intact and being utilized. THe actual metal casing, where the front two bolt holes are located, is broken off. Not the casing itself, just the metal around where the two other bolts screw down into the tranny...the stock bolts wont go into the holes, the holes r shorter now also sinces theres metal missing from the top of them. also crossthreaded. F22 5spds are next 2 impossible to find on St. Croix, so i may have 2 switch 2 a H22 or H23 tranny n the future. But i got two suggestions for my problem from my mechanic. But i know CB7 has the real mechanics..when it comes to CB7s...He suggested getting someone to weld it up...now if he meant weld metal back where its missing ok, but then he'd have to retap holes n such, sounds impossible from a safe efficient standpoint, but then he ssuggested a helicoil. Since my bolt holes r effectively shorter than original, maybe with just a shorter bolt and helicoil i can fix my issue?

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Helicoil isn't all that strong. Timeserts would be stronger... but it's still not the best option. Welding it up and retapping would be better, though STILL not great!
Replacing the transmission is your best bet, if you have access to something that works. If not, it might be worth having one imported. You'd be spending quite a bit, but a nice M2B4 would be quite an upgrade!
Good luck.
