ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Maybe your heat selector knob thingy isn't working right. I've had it happen to me before.

Check your coolant level first... If its not at the right level, your heat wont work right.

It's not the thermostat. However, the switch that opens the heater core to coolant may be malfunctioning.

I'll look in my shop manual for you.

                        the heat works likes this:

first you have to have sufficient coolant levels....ONLY way to check is the bleeder valve located on the head...water outlet pipe. could be full under the cap but still have air in the lines.

second, the thermostat needs to be working...if it is stuck open you will have little heat...if it is stuck closed...well you will overheat. However if yours is stuck open, it will still heat up so long as you are not driving.

Of course if one or both of those were a no go your temp gauge would let you know. (air in the system leads to temp gauge shooting up, and then going down when you increase rpms)

third there is a temp control knob. It connects to a temp valve, it is located in line on a water line going to the heater core. If there is a problem with the valve it could cause and increased amount of torque to be used to turn the knob leading to the knob breaking. Or the valve could be defective to where you can not adjust the temp.

Usually this is the result of water level. You will need to get the car to operating temperature while NOT driving the car. Turn the knob all the way to heat (this will allow hot coolant to flow into the heater core) then open the valve, any air will be expelled.

If that is good, then with the car still sitting still watch the temp gauge...even if the thermostat is stuck open it should go up ALMOST half way...UNLESS the air temp is very cold where you live...still it should rise...if not...let us know.

If it raises when sitting still but drops when you drive...thermostat stuck open.

But that only addresses the issue of the coolant flowing properly...you may still not have heat. So post back and let us know.

Sounds like bjcammerx has this one down cold in general.

However, since you took a direct hit from a tree on the climate control, something could be broken or broken loose in that unit.

If you have ever put any kind of "stop leak" in your radiator, your heater core is most likely clogged. That is very often the cause of no-heat issues.
