wow! can't believe someone from this site would be that halfass bout doing a job like that. what the others are sayin, makes good sense. i would definitely have the whole rebuild gone over, to prevent any further damage caused by halfass lazy, money taking, wanna be backyard tuners. you spent good money, you definitely deserved better results. sorry for your misfortune.

ask fot a belt from a 4th gen lude, 92-96, ,make sure you say the h22 dohv vtec motor, cuz they will give u the wrong belt, like a belt for a h23.**Blk Housed Slut Crew Member #1**

The part I was writing about before, which can be mistakenly installed concave-face-out instead of concave-face-in, is not on the tensioner assembly. It is on the timing pulley assembly itself, the lowest toothed pulley that the timing belt goes around on the bottom of the engine. Right between the toothed lower timing pulley and the engine there is what looks to be a spacing washer-type thing that should be installed concave-face-in towards the engine. If it's installed the other way, it looks like the edges of it will or can rub against the timing belt on the inside edge. The Helm manual points it out specifically but my Haynes does not. Also, I'm pretty sure someone on here started a thread about it a couple years back.
I also like the suggestion about a loose bolt that may have dropped to the bottom of the timing cover. that would also wear the bottom belt area down at the bottom of that toothed pulley.

Even if it didn't touch the belt itself, if that cupped washer/spacer were installed concave face out instead of concave face in, the edge rubbing on the outer perimeter of the pulley/gear would create a lot of friction and perhaps thermally degrade the rubber of the belt, freeing the kevlar or whatever strands from the underlying matrix and POW! nastiness results. It could also wear and make a sharp edge, possibly creating a thin "tail" of sharp metal that could then touch the belt as it rotates.
Anyways, this is pretty much suppositional. no way to know without looking.

I know Kellen(his real name and s/n here) had the same issue after he let a dude on the forums build his h22. I am not sure what he did about it though. We had it sitting in my yard and were fixing some of the guys mistakes, finally got it running, he drove it down my block and back, it was making a really wierd noise so we popped the hood and his belt looked exactly like yours.Call me Travis.

just go to honda & get a belt. it'll cost u 50$ but u don't want no cheap shit n there. looks like the belt was rubbing against the valve cover & check your tensioner. if this asshole half assed motherfucker didn't do it u should definately swap that auto tension for a manual 1. f22 or h23 manual tensioners will both work. Damn, hate to hear that bro.
