ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Vtec head help

any difference if i put a vtec head from a 96 accord(obd2) onto my f22a1(obd1)?

    thanks

Yeah, you'll be able to brag that you swapped a shitty head onto your block.

The SOHC VTEC F series heads are garbage for performance. The F22A head that you have now has MUCH more potential.

And before you ask... a DOHC VTEC head like the H22A or F20B is doable with some work, but will result in a low-compression, low-redline mockery of the full engine... not worth the effort or potential (probable) reliability issues.

i have that sohc head and it does not drag on performance. im neck n neck with stock h22's n considerin its a $40 head that i neeeded so it was the only thing available at that moment.. its preety damn good.. i mean yea it could be a lil faster but like with any engine a few things here n there u good to go.. some nice headers, p28, n a vafc n it be kicking ass. n for those cheap bastards like me who r broke as fuck due to real life conditions n cant afford a h, its a cheam mod to give a lil bit of balls from stock

edit: h is a great engine, but everyone has them. u would expect them on a accord. n i like to be different. u see i got that head n immediately assume that its slow. n thats where they fall, cuz it does have alot of potential, but u spend the same ammount f money u use to swap a h in that engine, n ittl be faster than a h. thats my opinion n from my experience.

Ok, I'm speaking from an engineering standpoint. The port design and valve angle of the F22B1 head are terrible. It is a HORRIBLE performance option. A cheap port job on an F22A head would get you better performance than an F22B1 headswap. The F22A head that you replace with the VTEC gimmick is a much better option. Shit... if you're that poor, do a little reading, pick up a spare $30 F22A head, and take a dremel to the exhaust ports.

Just because you're "broke as fuck" doesn't mean you have to do stupid mods and convince yourself that they're worthwhile.

An H22 can be had for $700. If that's too much money, then you're in the wrong game. A mild F22A can be built to make roughly the same amount of power for about the same amount of money.

i aint tryin to go against your word, or tell u dat u wrong. cuz youre not.. i seen your posts n u do know what u talkin bout. i also noticed the short fuse u got too.. lol. all im sayen its something nicer to look at then the stock head n gives a bit more juice, not a whole lot but some. mah moms lost her job so i been takin up all her bills so she dont lose her house n her car n shit n i lost mah job in da process. so i got really screwed, im not into racing really anymore, too much to lose, but i hate riding stock. so y not do something not many people bother with. yea the stock head is one of the best heads ever made, but not havin any other choice at that moment it at least has sumthin to show. id honestly tell someone to build their head, but i didnt have any other choice n i had that head layen there. n i honestly cant complain about it.

In the long run the F22B1 will only out perform the F22A* heads if you put double the money into them. The F22B1 head will net you 5 crank hp over your F22A, however it may net you 10-15mpg if everything else in your setup is up to par.

You are not going to keep up with an H22 Prelude just by bolting a B1 head onto your F22A block. I don't care what anyone says. A beat and broken 4th gen F22A prelude maybe.

If you want to make power with an F22B1 head you should look at buying the $60 head and putting a $400 cam into it. Then again you can do the same with an F22A* head, but if your looking to have VTEC on your valve cover for aesthetics that's your wasted money.
